Wow! Carefui what you wish for, this might catch E.B.'s eye. Dump the safety vests and put the cost on you.

Delta isn’t the military. I’ll happily take the phone call from prostans if it even came to that

That’s what my rain coat looks like 🤷‍♂️ don’t really want to get run over

I get back in the jetway with my hat on and the captain sarcastically says, “nice hat, is that authorized in the FOM?”

We need more uniform options, specifically outerwear. Pouring rain? How professional is a soaking wet admiral’s coat that smells like a wet dog? I carry (and use) a very light/thin Northface rain jacket for these situations. -20F? How professional is a pilot who literally can’t breathe and has to urgently rush through a walk-around? Bottom line, it’s often a safety issue, and I’m not afraid to point that out to supervision if questioned.

As a global airline, we need a number of uniform options, especially since we can be in scenarios such as YUL one night and BOG the next… in January.

Uniform shop said they’re working on getting an all weather jacket for pilots. Didn’t allude to anything soon though but it’s a work in progress

I mean, that’s great to hear, but they announced this uniform refresh a year ago. How hard is it????

This thread has partly renewed my faith in humanity while also raising my opinion of the average Delta pilot.

The rampers up north got some nice gear a couple years ago. I'd like one of those even if it says FLT OPS down the sleeve.

Neidermeyer, would you just ****! Doubling down on the douchbaggery about the uniform and the FOM. Lot's of things in the FOM get ignored daily. If you have read anything other than company material, closed your eyes for a quick catnap, spoken about anything other than checklist or pertinent to flight below 10,000, used a foreign language such as "gracias" in the cockpit, not turned your phone off until the cabin door is closed, etc, you too are guilty. And if you say you haven't, you're full of it. I personally don't own a North Face jacket other than the one's I got at the market in Beijing 20+ years ago because I'm too cheap. That may change though. I may bid 330A in Seattle and buy a North Face to strut around in just for you. Better yet, every Delta pilot transiting SEA should make sure to have a non approved jacket and have their hats riding on the suitcase just for you.

Bottom line to all of you for whatever reason keep arguing with me about jackets - who is right and who is wrong? End of story. If you feel the need to not follow FOM guidance that’s on you, but please stop encouraging new hires to go out and buy North Face jackets cuz they going to end flying with captains that are not ok with that - present company included.

ATL office dwellers are in charge of uniforms for DTW and MSP pilots. What could go wrong?
