Seems like a Delta thing…can’t wear jeans at the school house because it doesn’t look professional. Business casual doesn’t make a better pilot, no matter how much some people think it does…all the while they make us stay at that @“&$ box Sonesta. It’s comical in a sad way.

I’m not the fashion police, but in general we look sharp. Look at the pics of SWA new hire and upgrade classes. They look like clowns in T-shirts and shorts. Our wing ceremony and upgrade group shots look 1000% more professional and put together. I’ll take our way any day.

Who honestly cares though? Sure looking sharp in a uniform is good for the brand, I'll take that. But wearing dress slacks for a sim?? Come on.

I mostly agree with you, but I’ve seen a lot of people wear both a north face and the Hat together at the same time.. to me that’s where it gets weird.. Pick one or the other, somehow the combo of the two looks the worst.

constant delusion that personal appearance has anything to do with being a capable or professional pilot.

In a perfect world yes, but every now and then you see another pilot in the terminal and their appearance makes you wonder..

I wouldn’t discount professionalism, I think there’s something to be said about taking our career seriously and at least appearing to be put-together in front of customers for the like 10 minutes we’re in the terminal.

sometimes looking the part makes you act more the part. Psychology is funny that way

Agreed, and business casual sets a good tone for a training environment imo. Maybe I'm biased because BC was the norm at every other aviation job I've held, but shorts and tshirts just sounds sloppy.

Anyway, it's really not a burden to wear a collar, real shoes, and pants that aren't denim.

It’s going to be great when we have THREE different uniforms walking around the terminals this winter.

Way to kill the whole notion of being uniform.

I'm starting a new side gig. Stone washing hagar pants to just the right shade of "not black." Get your orders in early before the rush.
