Single or Double Breasted

Single breasted for me. If I have to wear a useless piece of apparel I might as well be comfortable doing so. I’ve long since grown out of needing to look “iconic”.

When I think about what the real purpose of the uniform jacket is for, it's to keep me warm. I don't bring the trenchcoat so between the terminal and the hotel van it's the jacket and maybe a sweater underneath, and that's it.
If there is one feature that the double buttons has over a single, it's that it does keep you slightly warmer no matter what else you have under it, shirt or sweater.
That's about the only thing I can think of.
But, seeing as how it's only required in the four coldest months, I may actually justify double for this reason. The rest of the time I simply don't bring it.
Why they had to mess with the positioning of the buttons is beyond me, as is the concept of having two different jackets for a "uniform" which is by definition, not uniform.
If they're okay with two different pilot jackets, then I think they'll be alright with me wearing my black North Face jacket on a walk-around when it's 10F and windy outside...after all, the flight attendants wear ten different things and they're seen by the passengers much more than us.
Leaning towards double breasted for minimum four month required wear + continued North Face for extreme winter ops.
