training expectations

This place is a gentlemen's course. With some -135 background, it won't be as much of a transition as it would have been coming straight from the military. There is still a lot new, but the pacing and 'treatment' are quite nice and easy by comparison. The success rate is extremely high, and you will have no trouble. Any horror stories you have heard are grossly overblown. Good Luck.

All you need is on your iPad. You will absolutely not being doing systems diagrams. In fact, there is very little systems anything. More pilot stuff and how to fix stuff. Don’t stress, there’s a great manual (student guide) that tells you what to study every sim. Then during OE, there is an OE guide that helps out for line stuff.

I remember at my regional we had 45 memory items and a sheet of over a hundred limitations to memorize. Now on the 767-400 we have 6 memory items and maybe 10 limitations. You can get them down in an evening half drunk.

I was hired as a new hire on the 220. Started off studying and ****. That ended about the 3rd day of sim. They really spoon-feed you everything.

I was a sim instructor on the ER for years. The attitude from the instructors is to do whatever is necessary to try and help the students be successful. The instructors know Delta hired you for a reason and they want to help you with the training so you’re successful on your sim check and go on to OE. Good luck and welcome!

Ha, true, we all kinda know that now from hindsight and previous schools here, but I might not steer a new hire down that study path if asked. You know what made training here stupid easy for me, was showing up way over-prepared even though I probably didn't need to put out that much. Makes everyone's life easier on both sides of the desk, we all get to go home early.
