I've had a few interactions with Shawn over the years and he has always responded quickly and helpfully to my questions. Don't know anything about the rest of the chatter.

I have heard he was in on the decision.

Hmmm....seems like a position has opened up for a keyboard warrior. Instead of 10,000 posts on a frivious forum, how about stepping up and actually doing something that affects fellow pilots?

Yeah, because some random keyboard warrior with zero scheduling knowledge is just who we need leading one of the most vital committees in the union… 🙄😜

I didn’t realize you had that many posts. Thanks for stepping up though.

Unfortunately DH is accountable to nobody — other than a weak and corrupt MEC. He will emerge from this just fine.

The MEC Chairman vote should be opened to every Delta pilot.

Yet, we vote for the "weak and corrupt" MEC members who have the power to remove him. Why does voting for the MEC not provide accountability but voting for the MC will prevent someone from also being "weak and corrupt?"

I am not against a restructured system where we vote for the MC, although it would not be a Chairman, but more of a President since we would be moving away from a board type structure.

The APA does it that way, but stragenly enough, if you go to their forums they complain louder than we do.

When I asked my rep why the F did we just give away a bargaining chip with that settlement they alluded to pressure from the scheduling committee to give the company a change because the committee was so overloaded with ace reports over batch sizes. So, I guess the moral of the story is, if the company keeps violating the contract for long enough we will just give in and change it for them.

APA’s primary problem is that they’re up against AA management. I don’t see DALPA faring any better in their shoes. Quite likely worse under our system that promotes cronyism.

Trust me, I think our current MEC chair is horrible, awful, and incompetent. But be careful what you wish for. The mob is fickle, brother... There was a huge, but temporary swell of semi-support for KP for this last vote. Can you imagine if we had actually put her in as MEC chair, when it was obvious she was 100% about embarrassing the company, and 0% about advancing the Delta pilots?

There are pros and cons to both 'methods', but the grass isn't always greener. I'm reminded of Winston Churchill's take on Democracy, saying "it is the worst form of government – except for all the others that have been tried".
