ehh, there were several areas where AA improved slightly on what we got*. But it was pretty ****ty they went out of their way not to trigger our snap up clause.
*things like
-ocean crossing pay applies to Hawaii
- sit pay is scheduled or actual ( we actually got our sit pay from them)
- 738/319/320 pays the 739/321CEO rate
- max 10 pays the NEO rate ( UA it pays the 739 pay rate)
- 0 LTD offsets
And I’m sure other things

its only one carrier that gets this and it’s the one with industry bottom sick accrual. When most our pilots get 3-4.5x as much sick time, this provision does not seem as valuable here outside your first year or 2.
im not opposed, but it’s probably at the bottom of the list of things I care about.

We have sick if needed. It's just called sick. If your on call and you are sick, then you are sick if needed or sick if not needed or sick if a crescent moon etc. Make the call because.............wait for it............you're sick.

It helps everyone on reserve, since you would not be incorrectly showing on the Reserve Availability List as being available when you're not. It allows those on the 'bubble' to maybe actually plan/YS a better trip. In addition the obvious benefit preserving hours for later when you wern't going to be used anyway, and running up toward a verification total. But that's a whole other issue which needs to be addressed.

I think nearly everyone makes the call when they are sick, or at least would acnowlege that they should. And those who (foolishly) don't aren't going to be compelled by pontifications on a web board. The point is that any pilot who would use "Sick if needed" has already called in sick. But they are only charged hours if they would have actually used you. You are free to not want rank that lower on the 'want' list, but we should not be limiting ourselves. If another airline has somethig good, we should want that too. Beseides, it's not like it actually costs the company hardly anything.
