Because the Republican Party has become a cult

But wouldn't stand a chance in the primaries.

Touche'

... what does that say about Ron DeSantis?

& what does the low voter turn out & historically low numbers for an incumbent predict? (probably not much of anything)

Jerome Powell took away the punch bowl ((free money)) to lower inflation (now 3.2% w/ full employment and real wage gains). Lowering the Fed rate, rationally, seems to be helping everyone.

A good case could be made that the old Joe Biden is what used to be a moderate Republican. Back when he was a lawyer, he worked for a Republican lobbying firm.

Right. Only 20% of the most die-hard partisans are choosing candidates to run.

Just curious, have any of us here been recruited to run for office?

It is flattering, but that blush wears off in about ten seconds.

Being a Delta pilot seems to be a whole lot better gig.

Would either Nikki or Ron accept VP? When Trump gets decimated it will stain thier ambitions. I can't wait for the day one dictator, gonna be great... again. :/

I've always said I think they need to extend USSERA to apply, at least in some extent, to public office. The only people who can run for office in local state or national elections effectively have to be independently wealthy or give up their career for their new one.

To be a Georgia state rep, you make $22k a year.

That was going pretty well for a political thread... and it is open again :-)

My $ is on Kristi Noem. She checks the boxes if this were a rational decision.

Trump does not want anyone who is going to steal any policy spotlight. Nor does he plan on there being a need for any successor. Is anyone else surprised he has not announced Don Jr.?

Maybe the 92 indictments and the civil cases in NYC have had a chilling effect. Jared's lower profile millions (closing in on billions) are warm & cozy.

Uh, people do believe that because it all happened. Polls have shown 60% of the republican party doesn't belive it though. Yes, it's a cult.

Yep. John McCain or Mitt Romney would destroy Biden this year I think. Even George W. Bush probably would.
