Most look at it at least, and if they don't I make sure to hand it to them. But very few write our flight in it. Or offer to put write ups in.. like I said, totally fine, just a trend I'm noticing.

Which base/fleet? NYC 7ER, 99% of FOs put the flight in the book

I've been told that it's something unique to the 320 fleet culture, that everywhere else it tends to be FOs who fill the logbook.

Correct on the 320 the CA has always put the flight number in the logbook.

I guess being out of the cockpit for over 2 years when I went to 320 CA training made it so I didn't notice the change (was ER FO, then UNA, then mil leave, then NQAT, then picked up 320A then waited for that)

From memory on the 330 the relief pilot fills out the book. Write ups are generally done by the relief pilot also.

ER does it like the 737.

It honestly sucks how it’s nonstandard across the fleets, even though the Vol 1 procedure is standardized across the fleets.

And making marks is discouraged due to expectation bias, but that is just technique.

I think the whole thing has to do with different culture between DL and NW. I'm not trying to start anything, but the fleets that were Delta fleets, MD88/737/7ER all have the logbook on the right side, so FO's were the ones who handled write ups and flight numbers. The DC9/320/330 fleets had the logbook on the Captain side and they've been responsible for write ups and flight numbers.

I did most of my FO time on the MD88 and 7ER and always took care of the book and then upgraded to A320 and have always had to take care of the book. I tell my FO's if they don't want to ever have to deal with the logbook, they need to upgrade to the 737 or 7ER and they'll never have to deal with the logbook, except for the cursory check over each flight or aircraft change. 🤣

Gosh....how unusual. Wish I understood it, or could offer any possible explanations or solutions.

But, all you new guys got it figured out.

At least some are understanding the questions. That is a step in the right direction.

Every CAiry pilot can do it their own way, because...."reasons, by God".

Kinda reminds me of the hotel sign in sheet.

M311...don't let the scarcasm go over "your head" as per usual. ;>

Got my raincoat and hat on for the ensuing yellow rain.
