Default Nor’easter and commuting

Asking for a friend. Has anyone dealt with driving into work during a snowstorm? It’s an early morning departure out of LGA. They haven’t cancelled said flight yet so if you are driving in but the roads get too bad do you just call the duty pilot and tell them your situation? Will it go down as a no show or dropped without pay?

If you can't safely get to work, your trip will be dropped without pay. You won't face any discipline.

You are however expected to make reasonable allowances for weather. You probably will find that driving down the night before works in your favor. I always flew in the day prior before a major weather event. My trip would usually cancel. Phone would ring with GS shortly after. GS would cancel. Phone would ring again with GS, rinse and repeat!

If Delta wants local commuters to make it so badly, then they should reimburse/provide hotels then.

Delta pilots will always go above and beyond to get "the mission" done even if it directly undermines any leverage.

Are you serious?
One of the best parts of this job is being able to live where you want. Part of living where you want is being at work on time, your responsibility. It’s not that hard.

Regional airlines reimburse a certain amount of commuter hotels every month. It's not that hard.

In the past decade or so regional airlines have been/are desperate to attract and retain pilots. Major airlines not so much, hence absurdly low hiring standards and financial incentives are more prevalent at the regionals.
