I’ve talked to my reps about this, and I don’t think they want to touch it, because it sets a bad precedent for the company to come back and say “well we adjusted numbers before to help y’all out, now we need to do it to help us”.

Interesting. That seems a bit weak considering it appears we've helped them out quite a bit with their PB Day issue. We also allowed them to pretty much implement anything that helps them right away, while we wait months/years for the stuff that helps us. Are they worried that we'll enter yet another global pandemic unlike anything we've seen in modern day? You can bet they're going to come asking (eventually taking) if we hit some other massive black swan. This just seems like a logical move considering the extremely unique nature of the world shutting down. I guess we just deal with it why they average less than 250 hours of block/year lol.

The daily reserves required (aka the grid) is calculated a different way, in a different section with different numbers, and is dynamic and can change with changes in open time.
The two parts don’t seem connected in any way.

There are actually two numbers for reserves. One is for the staffing formula, which says how many line holders and reserve pilots we need. The reserve part is driven by utilization and how many green slips go out.

I could see where it affects the number of reserves available.

The staffing formula has zero connection to the formula for the reserves required grid. They are two independent things.

This doesn't make sense, unless reserve pilots are acknowledging trips more than 30 hours out from report. The change you suggest regarding 30 hours of rest before report for reserve coverage cannot be forced by scheduling.
If pilots are actually acknowledging those trips >30 hours prior, it's a pilot problem, not a scheduling problem. Just wait to acknowledge inside 30 hours prior to report when coming off an X day.

Filling trips 2 days out is allowing scheduling to give 30 hour rest prior to trip report. Trips which have never been FAR legal in day prior coverage are now being covered by reserve pilots instead of GS. This has made a significant difference in WB categories with 6+ day trips.
It affects NB categories as well, to a lesser yet still significant extent.
