Talk about gaslighting an AUS base into existence…

I hope for your sake you’re right. But I’ll believe it when I see it.

You do know that there is a pilot lounge already built in terminal A, right? It’s been used for storage for years.

Recently they have cleared most of it out and have started doing some renovations. No one seems to know why. If they want a lounge in A, it won’t take long to get it.

Also, the current lounge in E is temporary and will be replaced by a new one inside security.

There’s a bunch of rumors about what may be coming to BOS (more growth) in the next 1-3 years or so, if the additional real estate materializes.

I am un convinced that it becomes a pilot base but I don’t have any input on the bases. We seem to have consolidated more than grown our bases since I started at Delta and I don’t see that changing. I hope I’m wrong for the sake of those Austonians, Ausies, Austonauts or whatever they are called.

We call them weirdos.

Other way around. It originated in Austin in 2000 and was copied by Portland in 2003.

Will there be a pilot base? It only took what... 31 years for them to bring Boston back? The company does not like adding bases, as much as we all wish they would.

I was wondering maybe we could put something in the next contract to incentivize/ make it easier for them to open new bases..

Like what?

And why? Everyone knew what the Delta bases were when they got hired. Why expend negotiating capital? Hoping for a base near your home?

We did exactly that. The company opened the first test base in MCO and the pilots bid and were awarded the base. Just as the first monthly bid were going to be posted DALPA unilaterally pulled the program down. That was our contractual right. It also probably insures the company will have little interest in a new process for easier bases.

WHEREAS MOU #16-03 – Virtual Basing & Temporary Duty allows the Company to
establish a virtual base and/or temporary duty on a test basis, and
WHEREAS Delta recently announced its intention to open a 7ER virtual base in MCO for
the June 2018 bid period, and
WHEREAS MOU #16-03 provides that either party may terminate MOU #16-03 effective
with the first bid period that begins at least 45 days after termination notice has been
given, and
WHEREAS the Delta MEC met in session to debate and deliberate the potential advantages
and disadvantages of virtual basing and/or temporary duty, and
WHEREAS after careful thought and consideration, the Delta MEC has concluded that virtual
basing and temporary duty are not in the best interest of the Delta pilots.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the Delta MEC has concluded that virtual basing and
temporary duty are not in the best interest of the Delta pilots, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the Delta MEC directs the Delta MEC Chairman to exercise
the termination provision of MOU #16-03, and immediately notify the Company of such
termination

Hey, you knew what the pay rates were when you got hired, why expend negotiating capital trying to get higher pay rates?

Now, see how dumb that logic sounds?
