Which is exactly why we need to do the same and make them buy back guardrails as often as possible — with auto-accept being the perfect example.

This creates 30hrs of rest, even if you don't need it. They can always take it away later if needed.

Smart move on the company.
This works sometimes. But I can’t remember the last time a live scheduler called me to notify just for pre posted rest. If they don’t call or I don’t have a post-rotation schedule check, I’m not self-acknowledging it. This has worked for me and is a fumble from them when they thought I had 30 rest but was never notified.

This would certainly track. Back before they posted SC slots I called after being assigned SC out of order. They fixed it by putting all 6 of the people ahead of me in the bucket on SC to make my assignment legal.

This would explain why my drop didn't go through either. I couldn't figure out how the blue days started disappearing before the 20th...mystery solved. Very frustrating but does seem completely within their right to do.

This all comes down to the fact that the company has complete discretion when it comes to assigning rest periods. There are no PWA guidelines preventing them from doing what they are doing.

100%. This nonsense is the latest kick in the nads for RES pilots in particular. It ensures no blue days and none of the schedule manipulation provided for in the PWA. APDs don’t work, X-day swaps, PDs, YS, GS, nothing works.

then they just remove the rest when they need you for that last day. Regional airline BS

I wonder do both the preassigned 0600 and the 1800 rest start times both cause the number of avail reserves to drop

I don't think that pre-assigning rest is inherently a problem though. It's more about how they're using it to "create" conflicts.

If a pilot is legal for a trip on RES, they should count as available, both in RUO and in Reserves Available. Pre-posted Rest should be irrelevant.

The monster that has been created here is that somehow pre-posted rest creates a conflict in a very similar (identical?) way to what an actual rotation award/assignment does. I think that's the problem that needs to be fixed/addressed.

Doubling down on my previous post.

A RES pilot normally cannot actually have an award/assignment beyond 2nd day coverage. Except Short Calls, which can, and are, awarded outside the 2nd day window.

As I'm typing this I think I just had an epiphany, and that's that pre-posted Short Calls (that went into effect March 2025) are actually what opened the company's eyes on pre-posted rest, and the fact that they could use them as pre-posted conflicts that are freely removable.

Pre-posted (awarded) Short Calls have the same issue as Pre-posted Rest. Although Pre-posted SC can only be awarded (not assigned), they can be removed at a schedulers discretion to assign a conflicting trip. This is what they're also doing for Pre-posted rest. They conflict, right up until they don't (and the company gets to decide it.)

Yes. Even rest of 1 min makes you "unavailable" per the 23.V language.
