IMO RG is already a dead man walking. His failure to contain costs while simultaneously engaging in adversarial behavior with the pilot group means he is only good for one more thing: agressive contract negotiations. He is going to be sacrificed near the end of negotiations after he’s done the company’s dirty work.

There, I broke the trend. Too lazy to look up the spelling of Dan's last name to spell it out

We’ll know his time is up when he’s sent back down to the minor leagues (regional management), which is exactly where he belongs.

I think it exists because certain positions within flight Ops require them to be on the list

It was all about him stroking his ego by pretending to be a 757 captain several years ago (with an LCP in the right seat at all times). I doubt he’s flown in years.

My favorite JD story (told to me so I haven’t verified). Atlas captain flying home from a long trip after an extension. Runs into JD with his son in the boarding area. Captain says a very passive hello to JD and a friendlier hello to his son. Captain asks JD’s son what he wants to do when he grows up. An awkward and uncomfortable pause, and JD says “go ahead, tell him.” “I want to be a pilot.” Captain laughs. Says it’s a great career, just make sure you work hard and fly for a great company. Smiles and walks away.
