It's not 100% guaranteed...I personally don't NEED weekends off though, so I can stomach the risk.
It does seem like when I absolutely need specific days off that I'm forced to bid a line, because coverage days end up going way more senior to reserves (something I'd like to see changed in the next contract).

Sorry, I didn't specify.
Under RA (the post I was adressing) more than 10 years ago, the 717B was a "hot" category as Delta took a ton of planes quickly and over trained the A's and under trained the B's.
It was a great summer if you wanted to bank cash, but largely went away.
Now, it's pretty much across all fleets and all bases and it's not even summer.

I was a 717B in 2016 in ATL, I went 2.5 months without flying a single trip for straight pay. It was EPIC. GSWC was routine. The premium pay started in February and ran through August, then it was like someone threw a switch in the September bid package, and it was gone… Seniority was almost irrelevant, there would usually be 20+ trips in OT at 0700 for that day, every day. G#5-6 or C#5-6 was very common. You would come off an airplane after blocking in and there would be a CA waiting in the jetway to depart in 45 minutes, and he/she didn’t have an FO yet. If only we had today’s RR rules. We are heading that way, but the difference today is that they aren’t afraid to cancel a flight. Cancellations were unthinkable in 2015/6 era.
