If it were an overall statement I would agree, but I am hearing the phrase in relation to this possible acquisition. In that case it would mean the "deal" would not require any additional staffing or a reduction in staffing. The slots I was referring to were the Shuttle slots. Does that mean we are buying the slots and they will be flown by DCI/Compass/barbie jets? I don't know.

It depends. The initial stuff is good, it is the other stuff that could be bad.

I worry that RJET may be involved in a lot that DAL does, and I know what they want.

Given ACL's concern about RAH and given NKings statement about the shuttle slots it makes me think RAH, who owns I think LCCs gates in LGA or something along those lines, will be an issue if the news was indeed about LCC shuttle slots.

I'd hope if there was only one shuttle then the combination of the two shuttles would be enough to warrant using mainline aircraft.

* US Airways may exercise an option to obtain approximately $110 million
through the sale of certain assets, including 10 EMB-170 aircraft owned
by US Airways; three EMB-170 aircraft currently committed for delivery
to US Airways; other EMB-170-related assets; 113 commuter slots at
Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport; and 24 commuter slots at New
York's LaGuardia airport.

* US Airways would assign to Republic leases for an additional 15 EMB-170
aircraft, and would work with Republic to locate an Embraer heavy
maintenance facility at an agreed upon location within the US Airways
network. Republic would enter into an RJ service agreement that would
continue the operation of the aircraft as US Airways Express. Republic
also would simultaneously lease back the Washington and LaGuardia slots
to US Airways.
At any time on or after the second anniversary of the
slots sale/leaseback agreement, US Airways would have the right to
repurchase the slots at a predetermined price.

I have no idea whether they ever bought them back, my guess would be no. So some slots could be acquired from LCC, but if we wanted the whole enchilada we'd have to deal with Republic as well (or I guess we could just give LCC the money to buy them back).

This whole thing is a lot more complicated than that. You have to dig very deep and go back several (over 10 years) to find out who owns what. Stuff like property ownership, property management, slot ownership etc.....

In the near term everything I have tried to figure out and been able to confirm through confidential sources looks good for Delta Pilots. The problem is the "hang over after the party next year" and who our bed partner MAY be. But that is for next year and God only knows that over a year ago and 1000 pages we started this thread on hiring. A year is a lifetime for an airline in today's economy especially. Just sit back and enjoy the ride for the time being.

I know that I am going to.

If anyone is interested, go to feministing.com and you too can read and even join in on a lively thread discussing from a feminists point of view the new Delta uniforms not fitting plus sized women and their overall sexy design issue to begin with. So go agree, go disagree, do whatever you want but I think for some it might be a constructive outlet for your thoughts on the matter and I'm sure they'd love to hear from a real Delta pilot.

Its about halfway down their landing page and you'll see the article.

So take your mad airlinepilotforum skills and put it to use on one of the largest issues facing Delta today.

Dead on. This is a very complicated deal that as with all deals may fall apart at the last minute.
I do not see it as an acquisition of an airline or its jets. Not yet any way.
As you have hinted we will more than likely have a dance partner again next year.
I cannot stress enough the magnitude of what is in the works. If even half of it turns out, it will be good for all employees of Delta Air Lines, Inc, not just the pilots.
Also, to remind everyone I did not break this news, nor did I give a date. I only confirmed the time frame. Do not get big news fatigue. It may or may not come today or by the end of the week.
There is a lot at stake here, and if done incorrectly, it could leave quite a mess.

As the other poster pointed out RJET is in the middle of a lot these days. I know they have announced a replacement of the MEH 717's and there are no aircraft on delivery. Either they are going to go for another 60 month lease or they have it figured out.
I would not be happy to see LCC's 190's go to RJET, I mean Midwest, or was it frontier.
Things are getting messy quickly.

Also as Bar likes to state, I see true consolidation coming this winter. We are in a perfect storm. Dropping yields, low demand, and no credit to float on. IMHO I think we will see at least one if not two, and a liquidation before next spring.
