There are some pictures from today floating around. Interestingly I read that the tomb is guarded from a safe location that is protected from the elements when the cemetery is closed for weather. I have no idea what that actually means.

Google's aggregate of forecasting data shows a 50% probability of a 6+ foot storm surge at JFK. The data show a 100% likelihood at LGA.

LGA field elevation 11.6 feet. KJFK is about two inches higher.

Since every 50 seat RJ is insured, why not, ahem, preposition the "fleet" to LGA for recovery flying? Inflate the tires to maximum PSI, defuel the jets, lower to flaps 25 and trim for 70 knots V2, not set the parking brakes and let the rampers perform their usual quality work securing the jets? Voila', debt drops by 2 Billion dollars :)

Send a MD88 up there for the Pilots, Flight Attendants and remaining employees.

Really, I am concerned about what this might do to our Kennedy project.

huh?

An under construction terminal will remain an under construction terminal...

On the other hand the newly acquired refinery is roughly 15 miles north of the storm track, well within the cone...
It's already in an area with scattered power outages...

Cheers

Stuck in the NE. 49 hr layo now if I'm lucky. But nothing is open and no transport avail. Walked to a couple bars and almost got airborne holding onto my inverted umbrella. So tired of trying to find true info on what flts are still on to get home. Starting to get painful and the power hasn't even gone out yet.

So I'm assuming there will be another AE in a few months to staff for 717 arrivals? glad to see some upgrades in there. Just curious how this might effect any possible hiring in 2013

Flight ops would like to hire to smooth out the training and lower displacements. Last I heard the powers to be above flight ops are against that plan so I expect no hiring until next fall. The good news is that this was a net positive bid and starting with the next bid we will be staffing for the shift of over 1000 jobs from DCI to the mainline. Those bids will be ongoing for the next 3 years.
