Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
While passengers are deplaning, a pilot should stand at the deplaning door to thank
our customers whenever possible.
• Pilots should not deplane until all passengers have departed the aircraft,
unless early deplaning is necessary for operational reasons or passenger
assistance.
• Pilots will use good judgment not to interfere with any passenger or with
the normal deplaning flow.

Think a bit more...I don't know...direct logic. I conducted a preflight inspection. Completely covered by the DAL Manual set. I did not do a preflight inspection, missed a big issue, had a problem, got hooked for it, called my rep...and now the PWA is involved for the same time. So, globally, I agree with you. One overlays the other. But there is no "standard text" in the PWA, so to speak.

This horse needs some more beating.
The memo was poorly staffed and worded. It wasn't the first time and it won't be the last.
For the record, I think the word choice of line check "blitz" is a poor choice of words, but I don't think it rises to the level of "panties in a wad" bad. I thought the word choice of doing the walkaround "in the shadow of the aircraft" was a poor choice of words too. I remember when DAL memos used to be full of misspellings. Etc, etc, etc.
Hold that horses head, I'm gonna kick it in the nu...
Underboob, I'm beggin ya.

Scambo, I think you and I need to work up a Laural and Hardy, "Who's on First" type routine for the Gate Announcement.
Me: "You wanna tell em?"
You: "I'm not tellin' em, YOU tell them!"
Me: "Tell who?"
You: "What?"
Me: "The Delay thing!"
You: "What, are we on a delay?"
Me: "That's what you said!"
You: "Who said?"
Me "YOU Said!"
You: "What?"

I wasn't trying to get all legal eagle on you, I was just pointing out that Delta wants to get people to give good customer service and they have the right to lay out their guidelines. They also know that can't make you be nice. Personally, I enjoy saying goodbye and talking with people. I also enjoy helping with strollers wheelchairs. It used to be that whoever made the landing was supposed to stand in the door. My experience now is that if I don't do it it won't get done. I guess that is what the fourth stripe is for.
