Just two cents to throw in the pot. Vector at NWA 2007..... DOWN.
Vector at Delta in 2007........ DOWN. Vector at New Delta in 2010....... UP. I don't want to go back to the NWA I worked at of 2003 thru 2007, and I doubt any Delta pilots want to go back to Delta the way it was in 2003 thru 2007. Our pilot groups sacrificed mightily and have created the company we now all work for through sacrifice. With leadership, solidarity and faith in ourselves, there is no reason to look back. Around the corner, and in two years we have a chance to bargain with our combined sacrifice to share the gains of what we have earned. Our choices in how and by who we are lead should be the focus of this pilot group, not who had what in a miserable decade beginning Sept 11, 2001. Just my two cents. |

You know how to rally a crowd around here? Its not cheerleaders nor Erin Andrews, which I'm not sure anyone really noticed, its a little red meat:
http://www.sptimes.com/2007/10/20/im...T_AIRLINES.jpg YouTube - Southwest Airlines Commercial: Battle Cry DALLAS, April 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Southwest Airlines Pilots' Association is pushing for the Department of Transportation to disallow the permanent exchange of several hundred slots between Delta Airlines and USAirways at LaGuardia (LGA) and Washington National (DCA) Airports. This unprecedented anti-competitive deal would create hubs dominated by Delta at LGA and USAirways at DCA, giving them unchecked market and pricing power. "The pilots of Southwest support our Company's request for a free market process to take place regarding these open slots in two very key destinations," said Capt. Carl Kuwitzky, SWAPA President. "But we also support the benefit to the public of a low-cost carrier providing true competition for flyers in these markets." On March 22, after the DOT comment deadline closed, Delta and USAirways announced a revision to their proposal: they would agree to divest some slots, but only if they could hand-pick four smaller airlines to be given those slots. Southwest Airlines was purposely excluded from an opportunity to bid. "An economic expert estimates that Southwest's service to LGA and DCA would save the public approximately $200 million, annually, if Southwest were given the opportunity to acquire the slots," continued Kuwitzky. "This proposal is a back-room deal specifically designed to keep Southwest Airlines and its low-fare model away from these airports permanently." ---- Southwest’s average passenger airfare is $124.90 one-way, and the average passenger trip length is about 859 miles. Southwest Airlines has consistently received the lowest ratio of complaints per passengers boarded of all Major U.S. carriers that have been reporting statistics to the Department of Transportation (DOT) since September 1987, which is when the DOT began tracking Customer Satisfaction statistics and publishing its Air Travel Consumer Report. The airline adopted the first profit-sharing plan in the U.S. airline industry in 1973. Through this plan and others, Employees own about 8 percent of the Company stock. The airline is about 83 percent* unionized. (This percentage represents a total Employee headcount of fulltime and parttime, active and inactive Employees who are unionized.) Southwest Airlines is a member of the FORTUNE 500. The Ronald McDonald House program, cornerstone of the Ronald McDonald Children’s Charities, is the primary corporate charity of Southwest Airlines. Annually, the Company sponsors the Southwest Airlines LUV Classic golf tournaments whose proceeds benefit various Ronald McDonald Houses and have totaled close to $11 million over the past 24 years. In April 2010, Southwest Airlines ranked #4 among airlines and #12 among all industries, on FORTUNE Magazine’s annual list of the World’s Most Admired Companies. In March 2010, Southwest Airlines was awarded the Diamond Award, at the Air Cargo World awards ceremony, with the highest overall airline score leading all airlines in the Performance and Value categories. In February 2010, Business Week released its 2009 Top 20 Best Companies for Leadership list—Southwest Airlines ranked #2! In January 2010, Southwest Airlines was recognized by Vault.com for having one of the Top 10 Internships in America for 2010. And this:

I wonder if that's a DAL or JB 320 in their latest launch of stupid commercials. Not really sure, but at least it's comforting knowing SWA rampers can do basic math.

So gate agents are denying the jumpseat to feds?

I do not know where SKW Inc or their pilots get the notion that they have enough cash on had to buy DAL. Our Market Cap is at 8.820 billion. Last time I checked they did not even have 1/8 of that in cash. Now when DAL was at 4 share anyone could have bought us. Plus, I beleive we have over 788,908,765 outstanding shares. |
Just saw this in another thread. Now I'm really pi$$ed.............Less than 24 hours ago I purchased a Telex 850. Karma is a cold hearted mudder sometimes:D

That is just the market cap. To buy the company, the buyer must add in debt. $20 billion or so in DAL's case.
In the end the point was that it would be almost impossible for SKW to buy DAL without the boards concurrence. |

Any DL 747 drivers:
I'm thinking about going to TLV this week out of JFK (I'm a connection pilot and flights look good on travelnet, I read on travelnet the long runway there is closed, and it may be weight limited. How many seats are common (I don't need exact just looking for a ballpark) to be left empty on a weight limited flight like that? are we talking 10, 30, or 70+? Just trying to get a handle on how much of a 'seat buffer' I would need. |
I hate to hijack the thread, but, Does anyone have an android phone? I am trying to view I-Crew on my phone and I get a simple accelerator ..... msg when trying to view my sched. PM if you know how to get this to work. Thanks and sorry.

Qantas passengers to sue Airbus over plunge terror Sep 20 08:04 AM US/Eastern Dozens of Qantas passengers and crew are launching a multi-million dollar case against Airbus and a component-maker over a terrifying mid-air plunge which left scores injured, a lawyer said on Monday. The Airbus A330-300 was flying at 37,000 feet from Singapore to Perth in October 2008 when the autopilot disengaged and the plane nose-dived, plunging 650 feet (200 metres) and throwing passengers and loose items around the cabin. After the pilots brought it back to altitude, the plane went into another plunge and dropped another 400 feet. More than 100 people were injured. He said he believed the captain of the flight, a former "top gun pilot from the US Navy", had not flown since. "He has told me that when the plane went out of control, the computer would not give him back control of the plane and he said it was in a dive," Wisner told ABC Radio. "All he could see was the ocean. He has never been as frightened as he was at that point despite all his prior military aircraft training."
