It is amazing how things as far back as WWII are influential in little things like the JAL deal.

Also on the Clamp show tonight.... how many bonus points do you get for a GPWS warning AFTER your "landing?"

3:00 minutes in is where the hit parade really gets going...

Hey I was being vague.

It sounds like JAL will be forced to make a decision shortly. Their government want them to decide and totally restructure. Time is a wastin....

Even things as far back as the Tokugawa Shogunate may be influential. ;)

Hey! I know her.
Had a date with her one night in Kadena.
Very influential.

DUDE !!!!! NO !!!!! At 3:36 the FO takes his hands off the throttles and lets the ATS take over. Word of advice, DON'T land in gusty/turbulent conditions with the ATS on. They pull to idle at 50 feet (DC10, sure its the same for MD11) and you get screwed.

This is one of the contributing factors in the MD11 Air China accident that landed in the typhoon. I wonder if it will be a factor in the FedEx crash?

Perhaps it was these guys?

Typically they wait until the contractual deadline of the 5th to release anything just in case there happens to be a last minute change. Wasn't it a couple of months ago that they redid the 320 bid package after it was published? Any way, I never expect to see it before the 5th. They do usually publish all the trips in open time on the third or the fourth of the previous month. The trips are in open time now for the month of March but the bid packages are not out yet.

The bid packets are available...I just downloaded March with the PBS desktop app.

Denny Crane 02-04-2010 04:37 PM

Alright, I'm frustrated! For any of you PBS Desktop app users. How in the heck do you enter a line after you have selected your preference? Example.....Say I want to prefer off March 4, I can get to the point where I have selected it and now want to "enter" it in my bid choices but I can't seem to find the "enter" button. The one that says "apply" is not active after I've selected the prefer off day. I normally use easybid but just wanted to try out the PBS Desktop App. Any sugestions? What am I doing wrong? Thanks,

Denny

What time is the Clamp show? I think this is a good topic. Male or female scheduler, which do you prefer? :D

When I say what time is the Clamp show please read it as: what time will Clamp's wife have been asleep long enough to not notice that he's slipped out of bed to go feed his APC habit?

I just need to know when to sync my iphone (I haven't worn a watch in 7 years now) and sneak out as well. No shame.

where is the first place that i can find my schedule for training next month? I understand that they'll send me a letter by mid month before i start class but will it show anywhere else first? I'm trying to figure out how to bid for next month and figure out when i need to order my manuals by? thanks

Super,
At the bottom of the Crew Resources page on the Deltanet are the sim schedules. They have schedule spreadsheets and individual sim scheds for each fleet type. They should update them well before the 12th. Hope that helps.

Sorry-It's ATL training center fleets, hope it still helps.

If you have training next month it should be on your calendar in PBS. It won't show your sim periods, but will show your training days. Mine were on my calendar when I downloaded it tonight.

Greetings Brer Unable to Put PBS Entries Before the Deadline,

Personally, I've found the sexy voice and answering the phone as "Delta Pilot Services, how may I direct your queary?" as an extremely effective method. (I actually do this!)

It seems as though the magic time for me to vampire my way out of bed was 1130. Wifey has to get up at 0600 so she was out ike trout early.

I got the idea they ALMOST did exactly what FDX did in NRT among the other flip over accidents. They were all under the same conditions... bounced hard and began to roll as they got back in the air.

How about that Captain's voice? I need to have a deep booming voice like that. I bet that FO had to buy all the beer the rest of that trip.

I seem to remember a song being written about his AT technique:

"Hands off the throttles, hands off the throttles...lookin' like a fool with yo hands off the throttles!"

Super,

If you are looking for start and end dates go to the DBMS vacation or training tab and follow the prompts to display vacation or training and it will give you start and end times. Be aware that training for march doesn't have to be posted until the 5th of the month prior.....or......tomorrow.:)

I officially have a new phrase to use for whenever I make one of my glorious "arrivals."

Flying a 767 domestic tomorrow night, so that could very well be my first opportunity.

Super, the spread sheets are normally not complete until early in the month. Ala, no instructors etc are populated until and finalized until about the 25th of the month prior.

The instructors get their skeds then swap around for a few day, so they normally do not post the sked on DALnet until late in the month or early next month.

Now the student skeds are generally out about now.

KC10 FATboy 02-05-2010 05:32 AM

Not to one up you ... I was in the jumpseat watching two instructors do a landing at an airfield that we had special approval (USAF) to take a KC-10 to. In rapid sucession, they got ...

100-50-30-sinkrate sinkrate (hard bounce) bank angle - bank angle (second bounce)

On the first bounce, the cockpit door flung open and overhead panels in the forward galley and passenger compartment all came down. As we went back up into the air, the peanut gallery (FE BO and myself) called for a go-around. Had the GPWS not been saying bank angle, I'm sure we would have heard 20-10 again !

To this date, it was the worst landing I've ever seen. Even though a hard landing inspection was performed, ironically, no damage was found.

acl65pilot 02-05-2010 05:37 AM

Nice KC10;

I guess that would be like the World landing last year in BWI on a DC-10. They more than likely totaled the jet. There were stress marks all over the aircraft.

Begin with selecting on the right side of the screen "Start Bid Group" and higlight either pairing or reserve, then select Apply. Then you should be able to start building your preferences in that group.

Well here it comes again, Delta Mgmt putting hush kit on FA union talk. See DNN for more. "Richard announced Thursday that on Oct. 1, Delta will fulfill a long-standing commitment to industry-standard compensation by giving pay increases to U.S.-based frontline, noncontract employees."

forgot to bid 02-05-2010 06:34 AM

if you go looking you can find some amazing pictures post a hard landing. Alitalia's 763 that had the hard landing in EWR, a 737 that looks like it was made of rubber as the tail bends towards the ground. A 763 that had cracks in it in JFK. I think there is another 763 but I can't remember the name of the airline but I remember it had a crack forward of the wing that ran from the top to nearly the bottom of the fuselage. There is an ERJ-145 with the tail on the ground and an MD-80 that lost its tail on landing.

But, I think this picture is the most humbling. Imagine if this had been the middle of the day and not overnight?

The burning aircraft is an MD-11.

satchip 02-05-2010 06:35 AM

I was wondering when someone was going to mention this. Surprised Carl and co aren't beating LM over the head with this, "See, there is money left on the table! We should get more! You suck because we don't get more!"

See post above the dog's.
