If you are talking about ALPA guys saying that, yes. It's interesting, you go through this arc in this job where when you are new, you'd fly anything. Then you get to a place you really like and you want to just hang there.
For me, the most fun I had at the airline was the ER, flying europe. Each september, 4 different octoberfest cities in one month, biking all over AMS, getting Brit cankled, snaggletoothed chicks hammered on 151 and coke just to see if you still got it, Prague anytime but the winter and greenslips when you wanted them. Then they domesticated the -er.

I think it will be a senior airplane. I think.
Because if this is a new category, does this sentence still apply? "a pilot’s VD or MD bid into a category will supersede a more senior pilot’s AE bid to that category."
Because they could MD a lot of people into that airplane.
I think that 717 will be senior. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it may % for % it will be more senior than the 88. I bet the senior positions are up there with the 320. Cuz you just keep hearing "I'm going to bid it for seniority..." Says everyone.
Really, pilots round these parts are just desperate for some semblance of technology...

even if it's just Southwest's trash.

I'll stay put and continue to spread the gospel of how Douglas is out to send you home unpaid for a month or two...or at least how it destroys work shirts with sweat and seat belt grease.
The pay differential from 717 to M88 is primarily due to additional uniform and Gatorade expenses...I guess some could also be due to oriental massage requirements post hoisting the bag into the FO bag slot...or maybe that's just me

Yeah this is what I hear "I'm bidding it for seniority. I know the pay is less but I'll make up for it because I'm going to be senior."

So Lance lied, anyone thinking Ray Lewis is lying as well?

And what were the responses of the reps you spoke to? Did they just shrug their shoulders and claim there was nothing that could be done? Has the company been violating the staffing formula for years now? Serious questions.
WRT JV compliance, we have yet to reach the end of the correction window.

Hi
Their response was of interest and helping me find the answers and I was impressed. I think BC was happy with my question and really helped me find an answer by using his phone to contact HK. My worry about the formula was the fact that it looks good and helps with staffing but its just step one of a two step solution. If the staffing formula calls for the fact they need more people then what do you do? That was my honest question to the both of them because it seems good on the surface but without a trigger or enforcement mechanism its hard to see how it helps us outside of pointing out a problem.
Another point I raised to HK was: OK so the staffing formula calls for more people (he agrees and the company puts out a bid). That does not solve the problem because that is not an immediate solution. If we get into an understaffed situation ie the M88. Lets say in May 2013 the one year look back says yes our TLV was too high we need more people. OK the company puts out a bid in May2013 that does not correct the problem. So now the M88 drivers are stuck again with a crappy summer of lots of flying and the relief comes in SEPT with more people and more lines.
My beef with the staffing formula all along has been its a good idea on paper but it falls short of accomplishing what it was designed to do.
I will admit I do not know what can be done outside of tying enforcment mechanisms to it. IE if the TLV is exceeded all bases with higher TLV are paid 5 hours above ALV something like that. This is a direction I would like to see our MEC/LEC pursue in the future penalties within the contract for lack of compliance so their becomes a cost to any nonclmpliance
Thanks
Remember though, CRJ-900 A > DC-9 B.
