Also, it sounds like guys are going to be sitting around for months not doing anything but waiting for 717 delivieries to come so they can get an OE. That right there is some incentive to bid it on an AE!! (MD's are trained in inverse order.) Of course they would have a freeze. You are correct, MD equals no freeze and AE equals freeze.

Most places offer a discount. You just have to buy/donate $10 to the chapel per year for the discount card. It gives you 10 percent off at most places. I always buy it because as a commuter who eats before and after trips, it pays for itself. I agree though, most airports give every employee a discount.

117 MD-88s + 65 MD-90s? Equals 182 jets right?
There are 1735 pilots right now on the 88/90 and they're not expecting to add more but shrink staffing on it.
That's 9.5 pilots per plane, not crews, pilots. 4.8 crews per plane. It's below the 15 pilots per 737, 11 per 320, 14 for the 9.
Why do they say we are overstaffed? I mean February, yes, but come summer?

Yes but it is closing in 15 months, how you bid it is also how you are taken off. AE's are processsed first then md's. Also if you know you want a certain plane and get it who cares about the seat lock. Also if you ae off you will be processed first which could put you in class in a few months, about a year earlier than being md off.....keeping the plane flying until May 2014. A seat lock would be half over by then and some may not want to go through the rough schedule possibilities of a dying plane. At least that is the way i generally understand it.

I just have a sneaking suspicion the 320 is headed towards the 88's number. The 320 has gone from 6 crews to 5.6 crews and there talking about getting rid of more FOs.
What is SWA's ratio of pilots to planes? Let me go look... apc says 6,327 pilots and 565 speed demon 737s. That comes out to 5.59 crews per plane vs the 88's current 4.8.
