Maybe he has a generic open white slip and when a trip opens up that meets his paramaters then he is awarded it. Not everyone sits and monitors reserve coverage and out going trips 24/7. I'm guessing he has a life.

Default Reserve question

So here's the deal, I came off short call at 1730 today and was to start short call again at 0330 tomorrow. I get a call from scheduling at 1822 giving me a "heads up" on my rotation tomorrow which reports at 0500. She tried to make it sound like she was doing me a solid by calling me then instead of 0330. How legit is this? I didn't get 12 hours notice yet Now I'm expected to make report time which She knows I wouldn't have made if called at 0330. I've been on mil leave for over a year and don't remember this tactic.

LOL, hardly. I'm just not as perplexed as you as to how such a thing could occur. I save my feisty side for the "stiffing the van driver" discussions

There is no specific timeframe for notification to report for a short-call callout. It's "about" two hours.. "about" being the key word. So, it's legit. But call ALPA if you want a more authoritative answer.

You were under no obligation to answer the phone at 1822, and had you not, they would of called at 0500. At which point you could of said, "oh, I can't make that" then they would say, "Can you make a 0600 departure?" (just from my experience) and you could of discussed time to get to the airport then.

I'm not perplexed as to how it happened. I just found it funny that everyone else is getting greenslips and he missed the bus.

Speaking of hawking the computer, I think ShyGuy may have posted. Go get him!

Fellas, I'm on mil leave and didn't get the ALPA letter on scope or the AE letter. Would someone mind pm-ing me a copy? I would like keep my finger on the pulse, so I know (a) how angry to be while I'm in a position to do nothing about it, and (B) what I should bid when I get back.

Sometimes they get sneaky like that. It's exceedingly rare for me to answer my phone when scheduling calls unless I am looking for the call for that very reason.

80,

Guys bid what they want. If they have to have whatever it is they're flying, it's strictly their business. You don't want to be in the business of singling out individuals, or suggesting group strategies. And this is coming from a guy that wants caps/bow-wave, and no swap-board loophole to bypass max pick-up.
