Our version of the 787 will be flying soon. It is quite a bit different airplane. Different wing box, different tail, different electrics, different fuselage join and something like 20% better economics per seat than the -8. Boeing needs to get the dispatch reliability up to at least 99.7% and figure out how to get more than .8 airplanes per month out of their anti-labor plant down in Charleston.

Yes.

Flight Time Duty Time will be a big deal. Better and worse. Expect quite a few more re routes. We will either be quite a bit more productive, or have a lot of 30 hour sits ... probably a little of both.

Are we purchasing the -9? I thought I'd read somewhere, maybe it was on this thread, that we (Delta) were waiting for the -10?

If it was posted here, it has to be true, right?

On the contrary Roadkill/Buzzpat.....if you're not afraid to leave the confines of the mall and hotel area, jump in a cab (easily procured by the front desk), spend $15 dollars, and tell him to take you to the Greenwood area, where you'll find Tobacco Road (sports bar with good beers and bbq), Natty Greens (good food and drink), or LuckyB, good live music and beers. Just gotta venture outta your comfort zone my friend!

I'm pretty comfortable in RDU. I grew up in Chapel Hill. Thanks for the suggestions though. Will definitely check 'em out next time.

I can't see trips being more productive. With the hard limits on block hours and flight duty period plus the 10 hours min rest, I'd bet domestic pilots will unfortunately be working more days a month.

One cure for the 30 hour layover would be the split duty "stand-up" trips, but that would have be be negotiated.

Guys already fly nowhere near most block hour limits except 30/7. It'll be interesting to see how the daily block limits come into play. I think the 9 hour relief will mitigate a lot of that.

Giving up stand-ups/illegals would be a major concession. It'll be like the 5-day trips. Commuters say they want them but really the junior people and reserves get stuck with most of them.

There are a lot of ways to get away from the 30 hr layovers. Doing illegals is a horrible idea.
