Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Since we're throwing politics into this, I was driving my daughter to school this morning, and we were listening to the news, about the senator speaking all night against the Affordable HealthCare Law. Actually, I didn't think she was paying much attention, when she says "This guy is speaking against the Affordable HealthCare Law? What a d!ck!".
Smart kid, and probably the one time a teenage girl can get her father to be proud of her use of that word.

This reminds of the bumper sticker I saw recently "what type of person would protest health care." and all I could think is there that many people who don't really understand the issue?
No, I explained to her that the Republicans in Congress hate the President so much, that they can't bear the idea that he gets to govern a while, and so 100% of their energy is spent on obstructing anything and everything he does.

They can't compromise, they can't negotiate, and they're held by the throat by a few radicals, so that they never can even entertain the idea of working towards the center, or they get yanked out of office.
Get your facts straight on what Senator Ted Cruz (TX) was speaking about. WASHINGTON IS BROKEN, BOTH PARTIES!! And is being led by one of the most incompetent ex-community planner, former junior Senator that we've ever had. He single-handedly has made the United Staes of America a F'ing joke on the World's stage, so much so, that not only does his own party, in the District, not trust him anymore, but also Some of our closest allies, whom have been our closest allies for the previous 70 years.
Too bad your daughter will be able to "text" her sex education questions to someone else now, due to this POS POTUS.

You know, I look at this kid EVERY DAY and am amazed at how smart and resilient she is. She takes all honors and one AP class as a sophomore, and she often works later into the night that I can stay awake. Her bus is gone before 6:30 AM, unless I drive her. She is kind, good-hearted, and a great source of pride. She will listen to us, but only as long as we make sense. The depth of her reasoning is often a source of joy and amazement.
Parrot her dad? I don't think so.
With that being said, she did react superficially to the issue. She doesn't know much about Obamacare, and I did make a mental note to teach her that things are often labeled as something they're not, especially in politics (The Right to Work Act, The Patriot Act, etc.).
My point wasn't that she was well-informed on this issue. My point is that her reaction was pretty funny, something I was using to highlight the fact that we don't normally do politics on APC. Politics on APC is how we accidentally step on our cranks, and say stupid things about each other's kids.

Same here. I was asking my two year old what she thought about the ACA and she said it took her quite a while to read through and understand it, look at the practical application, real costs, how parts of it affected our liberty, and then concluded that there had to be a better way than this law. I am certainly glad she researched it instead of parroting what her dad thought.
This reminds of the bumper sticker I saw recently "what type of person would protest health care." and all I could think is there that many people who don't really understand the issue?

And hence the limitation of a forum like this, or email at times as it is hard to fully understand the intent.
I was certainly not trying to make fun of anybody's kid, and it my fault for not reading your post thoroughly as I inferred that your kid was in elementary school (I had not completed the first cup of coffee). Therefore, her comment seems very similar to my daughters which is normally what she hears from mom and dad.
So, although not intended to come across that way, I apologize for that.

Fellas,
I'm sure the moderators have allowed this discussion on health care and insurance to continue because:
1.) It is an issue that affects us as Delta pilots, &
2.) We have kept it a respectful discussion. (So far.)
I bet it could continue if we remained respectful by:
1.) Not name calling, &
2.) Not acting like the person who disagrees with your opinion is an idiot.
Now, I'm not one to be lectured to on how the world works and I'm sure none of you want to be directed to, or set straight, either. Let's take the emotion out if it.
I can assure you that all that bluster and hatred for "the other guy" the politicians we vote for spout is all for show. Let's not imitate their act and have a thoughtful discussion. We all might learn something.
I'm off to work. I hope it's still here when I land.
