My point wasn't that she was well-informed on this issue. My point is that her reaction was pretty funny, something I was using to highlight the fact that we don't normally do politics on APC. Politics on APC is how we accidentally step on our cranks, and say stupid things about each other's kids.[/QUOTE]
And hence the limitation of a forum like this, or email at times as it is hard to fully understand the intent. I was certainly not trying to make fun of anybody's kid, and it my fault for not reading your post thoroughly as I inferred that your kid was in elementary school (I had not completed the first cup of coffee). Therefore, her comment seems very similar to my daughters which is normally what she hears from mom and dad. So, although not intended to come across that way, I apologize for that. |

Fellas,
I'm sure the moderators have allowed this discussion on health care and insurance to continue because: 1.) It is an issue that affects us as Delta pilots, & 2.) We have kept it a respectful discussion. (So far.) I bet it could continue if we remained respectful by: 1.) Not name calling, & 2.) Not acting like the person who disagrees with your opinion is an idiot. Now, I'm not one to be lectured to on how the world works and I'm sure none of you want to be directed to, or set straight, either. Let's take the emotion out if it. I can assure you that all that bluster and hatred for "the other guy" the politicians we vote for spout is all for show. Let's not imitate their act and have a thoughtful discussion. We all might learn something. I'm off to work. I hope it's still here when I land. :) |
If anyone has ever wanted to fly off to Milan for a short or long vacation, Oct/Nov might be the best chance ever. With Emirates  entering the fray of MXP-JFK I was curious to what our and Alitalia's response would be after reading a blurb on the mother ships home page. I scooted over to the Alitalia web page and found that prices to Milan are HALF price compared to Pisa, Florence, Venice, Turin, and Naples. Now I'm not sure if that is normal because who wants to go to Milan in Nov, but I do believe this is in response to Emirates.
I searched Alitalia, Delta, and Emirates. Nov 6 to Nov 13. A week leaving and returning on a Wed which seemed the cheapest on all air lines. Delta - $595 Alitalia - $595 Emirates - $590 Rome, Pisa, Turin, Florence are all over $1000 on Alitalia and Delta (though Pisa Turin and Florence all require stops and were just under $1000). |

I think it'll slip into pure politics almost immediately, but I'm not going to suggest that the mods need to intervene. I'll just sit out this part of the L&G, and hope you guys will eventually create a thread, if it turns out there is a demand for this sort of discussion. I'll show up for the half-time show, and I'll expect cheerleaders. See you guys later. |

No problem at all, and thanks for clarifying. I probably got a little defensive anyway. I was also taking a position on an issue, while saying we ought not to be discussing the type of issues... I don't always make my points in the clearest, most explicit way.

Very diplomatically put.

The 321's aren't being acquired to fly JFK-west coast unless the business model changes from now to then. The reason for the smaller first class cabin, 20 seats, is supposedly because the 757's being kept on & getting interior overhauls are also going to smaller first class cabins - 20 seats.
