They keep trying to play chess with us, but we don't know they game rules nor do they. Given latest feedback from the kremlin, they know they are behind the power curve on hiring and don't have a solution. There is a quickly limiting flow of new pilots and half of the legacy pilots in the states will be gone in less than 10 years. We'll be cannabalizing each other for pilots. DL has given the job offer to 9E guys without degrees now (breaking the language of the bridge agreement)... I know specific names. So... here we go I guess.

Oh, OK. I'm glad someone has finally explained it to me.

I'm not really sure how I'm going to play this one.

Oh, and any CA that sells back their vaca in JAN is TOTD.
32/7 will be gone Jan 1. DAL got approval to operate under FAR 117 Jan 1 and not Jan 4th as the law stated. The waiver is from all of Part 121 and subparts as well. A bunch airlines did that. Its now duty driven. No 30/7 and 32/7 but a max duty limit, max daily flight time limits, and a hard restart to a rolling 100 in 28 days of flight time. (Ie no lookback in to Dec for 100 hrs.)

I'll hit 250 this year within 5 from the bottom in ATL. That's with Jan-Apr on the -9, a month of training in may, and half of June for IOE. No vacation sell back, 6 weeks off for knee surgery. All on reserve. The true beauty is that I've never felt more rested, I haven't worked more than 14 days, and I work only two days in December due to all they payback days they owe me.

Blanket G/S in and out of base all month every month. There were also several G/S I missed out on by just being out of position--IOW I didn't sit at home by the phone all day every day.

Live 1:20 away from ATL. 220 total hours on the 320 in 6 months.

Of course, there was one stretch where I worked 7 calendar reserve days in a row in Nov. The trips overall on the 320 are less than desirable--at least in ATL. Many 30 hour layovers. Probably more 30 hour layovers to come with the new rest rules.

I am in favor of exploring the time and a half provision over the ALV. I think it would be even smarter and safer to explore x day payback for all pilots. That has kept me sane--although when stating is so short it is hard to get the x days as they are subject to mutual concurrence (automated function often denied for capped reserve days). If we could make those payback days similar to APDs, I would likely bid reserve all the time, even if senior. The guys who make 300K worked hard for it, and are probably really tired.

Just some info from 1 perspective

Better yet all put in only GS with conflict.

I would assume a lot of these guys have vacation plans since a lot of kids are on break, ski trips etc.

I agree, a little concerted "legal" activity could go a long way in that category.

It seems to me this is a perfect opportunity for an ALPA or DPA letter explaining the pitfalls of vacation sellback, the differences in IA, GS and GS with conflict. Not to discourage one from the other but to inform and let the pilots make their own decision.

IMO, that may fall into the concerted illegal activity category, I could be wrong.

Green Slip with conflict pay?

Is it pay for the dropped trip plus pay for the GS trip or only the part of the trip that operates this month? I am asking because I bid reserve for next month. Thanks

I'd think that would end in a lawsuit.
