It's the NW DC-9 tradition carried on here. Every winter at least one Douglas has to go snowmobiling.
The other tradition is FDX breaking the landing gear on a MD-10 every year.

I don't think NW had many of those.
Truth... the way that thing (particularly the 800) brakes reminded me a lot of flying the maddog. Coming down final at 155 knots doesn't help, either.

If you were in the commuter room at JFK today between 2:30-4 and you happen to have a hat that might not belong to you on accident, I would love to get it back. It didn't have a name in it, I blame my kids who play with it too much. Thanks.
