I'm just trying to understand...really.

At a previous airline I flew with lots of senior CAs who were similiar in age to the current guys I fly with and they all used hotmic. So it's not a generational thing.

I just don't get why some guys are so against hotmic. I get it a little more on the older 737s without the new comm panel, but even then all it takes is a rubberband. They even have them available in the CPO!

Sorry for the rant.
100% with you. It is ridiculous. People are yelling at each other with one ear cup off of their NC headset. We all should be using whatever we need to to protect our hearing IMO. If the company Won’t pay to put voice activated hot mike on every airplane they definitely aren’t going to do anything about your hearing loss. Some 757s have it too BTW.

are we able to deduct union dues? I'm knocking out my taxes online and it's showing me as able to. I thought they got rid of this deduction with the tax change this year? Thanks

Question
I have a tax question about deducting union dues. Can I deduct union dues from my tax return?
Answer
An employee who paid union dues prior to 2018 may have been able to deduct them as unreimbursed business expenses, if the total of the dues plus certain miscellaneous itemized expenses reached a certain level. The employee then deducted the dues if the employee was able to itemize deductions.

Tax reform changed all that. For tax years 2018 through 2025, union dues – and all employee expenses – are no longer deductible, even if the employee can itemize deductions.

However, if the taxpayer is self-employed and pays union dues, those dues are deductible as a business expense.

Also, even though unreimbursed employee expenses are no longer deductible on the federal return, some states, such as Minnesota and Pennsylvania, may allow the deduction on the state tax return.

Short answer - no, not deductible on the Federal return, some states might allow it.

Does anyone know if this before rotation rest is going to interfere with our ability to be assigned a greenslip prior to a trip? Let's say I have a 4 day trip, am I now ineligible to do a 1 day greenslip on the day prior seeing as it's blocked out for "rest"?

I don’t think so. I think the rest period was always taken into consideration when awarding GS, etc...only difference is now it’s just visabke on your schedule.

Word is the company realizes the confusion it caused and will be turning off this feature in MiCrew soon.
