"Pain of the NWA merger"....right.

I personally am tired of the whining. I'm tired of the entitlement mentality. I'm tired of the ignorance and revision of history. Not that you have to be understanding of my fatigue, but I challenge some here to look in the mirror and see if they see a reflection of reality. "I got screwed..."
Yeah, right... Your butt got saved, and that's both premerger groups.

Thankfully, that vocal little group is continuing to be overrun by the successes that we've achieved together.

slowplay-
I took your advice. I looked in the mirror. I contemplated my situation. I now realize that I've been saved. Lee Moak is my savior and I shall not want.

I get it now.
I'm sorry for being so selfish in the past. It was just an "entitlement mentality" that made me feel like I deserved that pension. I will no longer focus so much on material things. I will get my fulfillment by reflecting on the tremendous successes we've achieved together in the merger.
I'm not going to worry about pay and benefits. I'm going to take my wife out to dinner tonight to celebrate SOC. And wait til you see the party at my house when the JAL codeshare comes through.
No more whining about silly things like seniority and money.

Nope, you really don't, but that's not surprising. My posts always bring out the "best" in people....

Where in my post were the words "Lee Moak" or "pension"? How does your pension relate to the merger? Do you have something productive to add to the discussion, or is only half your avatar correct?:p

Interesting take. Why do you think that AMR will go after AK with such fervor? would it be just to twist the knife at DAL? I don't see that as being much of a strategy, because they would still have to grow whatever markets they would be feeding... i.e. Asia. Additionally, if JAL goes our way, wouldn't AK be smarter to stick with a company that affords them the better potential for revenue? All that aside, I assume you are referring to a hostile takeover, hence another bidding war. Juicy stuff no doubt.

Funny, because the post Essential was quoting couldn't possibly be accused of contributing anything productive to the discussion. You made a point, a portion of which I agreed with, but certainly not in a way that added much to the discussion. Not even in a way that made this a discussion at all.

Can't discuss anything when you're busy trashing.

Good question. Even if AMR loses JAL, I wonder if ALK would be a defensive move, or strictly a retaliatory tit-for-tat issue. After all, ALK codeshares with AMR as well. In theory, there is no reason we couldn't both feed Trans-Pac flights with ALK. Losing JAL doesn't mean AMR has to get exclusive access to ALK, it just means it needs either another partner in Asia to funnel flying to, or more flights from SEA and LAX to take ALK passengers from.

I've predicted AMR would retaliate in this manner, because of the way it retaliated by going into DAL cities after we started talking to AMR. Seems like this is a question of egos, rather than necessity. Hasn't Anderson said there was no need to buy ALK, since we can have the feed under the current arrangement? No need unless the feed is truly in jeopardy, that is.

I'm not sure there is a reason to go after Alaska unless AMR goes after them first. The old rumor at NWA was we were happy doing the code share thing, but would do what ever it took to keep them from going to someone/anyone else. I'm betting that is the way RA looks at it now.

AMR's bid reportedly up to $1.4Billion... wow. Now we are talking serious money. Their market cap is only $2.7 billion. Do they have a sugar daddy they aren't talking about?

If JAL saw the history of what TPG has done to the companies it has invested in, I bet they would pick DAL hands down.
