Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?

I also heard about that October LCP meeting and used 773s in replacement of the delayed 777s and eventually (or within 4 years like sailingfun said) the NWA 747s but at the time I heard it was Alitalia but Alitalia doesn't have 300s, just 200s I think. Then I heard that Emirates' 300s were possibilities but then I read they're leases were extended.
I don't doubt thats where things are headed but I wonder if its still in the immediate planes as was aluded to in the LCP meeting. The LCP I was talking to said they were told that DAL had the rights to "steal" positions on the Boeing line up to a year in advance too, so I guess its possible they, if this happens, could be new but they sure were saying used and soon.

We are always looking for good deals on used jets. With the extensive delays to the 787-800, a lot of the foretasted used jets are not there. We were planning on a better used market in 09, but that will not be the case.
We still are working on some used wide body airframes. Fact is that many operators are starting to thin the order books so there will be slots on new aircraft already slated for production.
I assume the if and when the 300's come to reality it is a 744 replacement and we are looking at the next five years.

Not So
Actually AMFA is still on the property and is the official union representing the mechanics. They still serve what they call "the honorable" that returned after the strike was officially over. Most of the mechanics do not fall into that group though. There will soon be a vote that will most likely oust AMFA.

If we get the 90s in China then we don't have to fly them back, we can just fly them in replacement of the NRT NWA 757s. We'll just deadhead crews ove... stupid idea. I'll shutup.
But on that note, is the rumor still true that the NWA 757s would be removed from Japan* and DAL replacing them so that DAL 767 crews could go SEA-NRT-Saipan Tour-NRT-SEA? That was something I heard from that LCP meeting in October but I was wondering if that was happening.
*this is of course until there is an SOC.

Lets see what can be answered.
First, the 90's are always in play...... (nuf of that)
Second, DAL is continually costing out options as it pertains to moving airframes from one base to another. There are a lot of static costs that make some of the moves unrealistic until the IAM is dealt with. Either way you will see some movement.
I would look for 767 guys to be in NRT next year though. Those 757's that NWA has are or can be ETOPS and have a future life off the coast of Africa.

I know, but we need em for the expansion of the routes announced last week. Many of the SAL out and backs will be on 757 ER's. Now they may be able to get away with a domestic bird, there is only one issue. Getting it back to the USA for mtc would require a ferry flight. That is a lot of gas for a regular position flight.
I see 767's taking over the NRT stuff initially, we will see how that goes long term. There has been some talk of 320's as well. That was just talk though.
Look at it this way Fred. You will probably only be off the Saipan Tour for a year as the 757's from NWA will be the first group integrated. Hope for short fences for that.
