American swallowed it's war chest and then some over loose comments. On some server in a closet somewhere sits every comment, every IP address, every name easily matched up to an employee. You guys are radioactive. I can't make it any clearer than that.

King,

I agree with you in that I'm fairly sure the company has an eye on this board and they probably know who we are. But, as far as disciplinary action, because we are unionized and have a CBA, don't they have to: 1.) post a policy on internet forum posting and 2.) negotiate the possible actions they take against us for inappropriate postings with ALPA beforehand?

I looked at the communications policy they recently posted and it didn't seem to appy to APC.

Ahh, back when men were men, unions were unions and your food was cooked with the fat from bacon leavin's stored in a jar under the sink.

I think the caption for the pic should be something like, "Minneapolis in September." :)

I guess it hadn't really hit me before, or I didn't want to believe it, but satchip's post opened my eyes. The company, the bankruptcy courts and the union have done their job all too well. Its taken a few years, but the expectations for what an airline pilot can expect from this career have successfully been "reset".

We've lost the new generation of pilots. Maybe they got here to the majors at too young an age. Instead of comparing their compensation and lifestyle to doctors, lawyers and engineers they compare themselves to their buddies who are assistant manager at the Burger King. Or maybe they got accustomed to the minimum wage sweat-shop life at Comair and think Delta is some sort of paradise in comparison.

Placing trust in management to take care of us in the long term if we are "non-confrontational". That is just profoundly naive. Praising the union for "reading the tea leaves" and realizing how much we were overpaid. That is just profoundly sad.

I shed a tear for this once great profession.

Check,
It used to be a nice career. I used to tell little kids that they should grow up to be an airline pilot, not amy more. I used to enjoy going to work, not any more. Matter of fact, if I were a young guy here at DAL I would find a new career. The one good thing I did was establish a small business over the years for myself that will probably support me well in the future. As I told a fellow pilot a few days ago as he was screaming at the computer screen they have really messed up my career, " It's not a career any more it just a sh--y Job". Maybe it will come back around but we will have to fight for every inch of it. My take on it is that we were always confrontational At NWA and a bunch of the NWA managers that made it that way have gone into DAL management positions. I only hope that we do not have to fight management in the future like we did at old NWA "cobra airlines we stirke at anything".

For the guys touting the work with management theme "BOHICA" Be cautious and check six.

I finished translating the 73NG LoD into .csv spreadsheets, suitable for importation into any flashcard program. Is it kosher to post a link to 'em here, at my preferred site, or does that kind of thing have to go on the password protected MEC site?
