Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
There has been a lot of talk about trying to open contract negotiations early and maybe for the necessity of mediation. I just thought I'd post the relavent (sp?) section of the contract to add to the mix. Here it is:
Effective Date and Duration
Except as expressly provided otherwise, this agreement will become effective on October 30, 2008, will continue in full force and effect through December 31, 2012, and will renew itself without change through each succeeding December 31st, unless written notice of intended change is served in accordance with Section 6, Title I, of the Railway Labor Act, as
amended, by either party hereto at least 60 days but no more than 270 days prior to December 31, 2012 or December 31st in any year thereafter. In the absence of an agreement by March 31, 2013, the parties agree to jointly petition the National Mediation Board for mediation services.
Notice both sides have already agreed to enter mediation 3 months after the amendable date.

Any idea what they were prior to PBS, when we had a retirement, better health plan, and C2K rates? THAT is a number dalpa does not want us to know because of the ensuing riot. I'm betting that number would water your eyes, and on a comparative basis even AFTER the merger, I'd be willing to bet today's pilot costs are less than 10 cents on the dollar to what they were at C2K. JMHO. I'd LOVE to be proved wrong.
Reserves are down about 20%
We are flying about 60-65 hrs per pilot per month, that was in the 40's
I have no hard number but I am guessing our contract costs about three billion a year less for about 2000 more pilots.
ACL,
I'm not trying to squash debate at all on this or any other forum. Debate is healthy and can lead to new ideas etc. For myself, I learned loooooong ago that, for the most part, I am not a very good debater. (I've got older siblings that are much better at it than me!!!
) I get emotionally involved (pi$$ed off) and when that happens I can't think straight!!
So I tend to avoid putting myself in a situation where this might happen. Hence my reluctance to enter debate. Plus I'm just not that smart!!!!
Some of the stuff I see you guys post on here just goes so far above my head it's not even funny!!

Then tell us to tone it down, and convert it to Western English. I mean it.
I understand the emotional level, and that is something that is ever so valid for many members of our ranks. It is hard to not give two hoots when a decision may effect your kids college, your retirement, the ability to have your wife or husband stay at home with the young growing family etc. It is emotional and does effect us to our core. What we do with that emotion is how we succeed. It has to be channeled.
I enjoy your perspective as I do everyone else who attempts to join the debate and present a valid point.

I want to get paid more. Actually, I want to get paid a lot more. I agree with Carl.
I have a quick question for DAL-N guys. I've been riding on your Airbuses a lot lately (about seven times over the past couple weeks), and not once did the pilots single engine taxi. All the taxi times have long enough to single engine taxi with some as long as 20-25 minutes. Does the Airbus have some kind of limitation on it for single engine taxi? I'm even looking at a DC-9 and A320 here in MSP with both air and power hooked up, but APU's running. I'm just curious what's up with all the fuel burning? Is there something I'm missing?

There's a link for "DL Jumpseat" under the NRSA travel tab. Did I screw this up?
So...I called the VRU and was not listed, so I did that. I have no idea what the jumpseat tab on iCREW does for you. Wonder why it's even there?

I went back to the jumpseat option on iCREW after listing on the VRU and my name was now there. I guess it is a second way to check jumpseat occupancy before wearing out your fingers on the VRU.

I think I was "had" by scheduling last night, but maybe some south guys can clear it up for me.
I was on an X day yesterday and had one lone reserve day today. I had the highest raw score of anybody on reserve and there were 8 pilots ahead of me with only 1 day of reserve.
The phone rings at 11:45 last night and it was DAL scheduling. I answered the call and the scheduler said I had a white slip in for a trip and he had a 1 day for me. It was an 0500 report for a turn to GRB.I would be back home by 9 am and it would put me at 75:00 for the month. If I wasn't over 70 already, I would have asked him why he was calling me, but I saw it as a quick and easy $600.
Does anyone know why he called me? He was specific about a white slip, and from what I know, a white slip doesn't apply to reserves.
I do have a white slip for next month, because I am a blockholder, but that shouldn't affect January.
I hope someone can clear this up for me.
