crew planning is in the crew room right now and i've been talking with them all morning. LGA delay will have a very limited effect on us at mainline as the majority of the flying was slotted for the RJs. They believe Delta will eventually get some deal done but now its just a sit back and watch moment. Said we'll be short this summer and the ALV's wont be going down until late this fall. They confirmed that they're looking into which planes to pull from the desert for the 2011 flying and when thats decided they'll know what the hiring plans will be. They said that guam's in the air but it was "above their paygrade" so far but they were looking at doing the flying with more 757's instead of 737s because they dont want to commit the 737's out there with a base if it may not stick around for 5 years. More to come as the company establishes the gameplan going forward.

more 5 day trips are coming as well as high time 4 days. they also said that MEM 320 guys will likely be covering alot of SLC 320 flying until the SLC base is fully staffed.

SALT LAKE CITY, Feb. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) today announced it will increase westbound service from three North Dakota cities with its summer 2010 schedule. By June, Delta will add two new daily round-trip flights between its Salt Lake City hub and Bismarck and Minot, as well as an additional daily round-trip flight between Salt Lake City and Fargo.

"North Dakotans will benefit greatly from Delta's new westbound connections to the Salt Lake City hub, making it faster and more convenient to travel from their hometowns to points across the Mountain West, West Coast, Alaska and Hawaii," said Bob Cortelyou, senior vice president – Network Planning. "With Delta's expanded westbound schedule, business travelers in Bismarck, Fargo and Minot will now have the choice of doing business in cities across the West Coast and returning home the same day."

Added Melissa McLaughlin, Delta's national sales manager for North Dakota: "As North Dakota's leading airline, we take very seriously our commitment to making travel accessible between our home state and the more than 350 cites Delta serves around the globe."

With the summer 2010 schedule, Delta plans to offer North Dakota customers 34 peak-day departures from six airports – nine from Bismarck; two from Devils Lake; nine from Fargo; five from Grand Forks; two from Jamestown; and seven from Minot. The new flights from Minot will be the first ever offered to the Salt Lake City hub.

Customers traveling between North Dakota and Salt Lake City will benefit from convenient connections to more than 300 peak-day departures to nearly 90 worldwide destinations, including international flights to Tokyo-Narita, Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Mexico City.

In addition to expanded service to Salt Lake City, Delta offers daily flights between the six North Dakota airports it serves and its hub at Minneapolis-St. Paul.

Delta's new North Dakota flights, which will be available for sale to customers beginning Saturday, Feb. 13, will be introduced as follows:

Great info! Thanks. At least your little fiasco wasn't a total bust.

Once again: more RJ service and not mainline.

Last week I was waiting for my sister's (late) DAL flight in the park and wait lot in SLC. It was enlightening to see all the inbound flights to SLC by carrier and flight number. It looked at first glance like DAL was by far the largest carrier, but when you looked subtracted all the 4xxx flight numbers (RJ's) there were precious few mainline flights.

SLC is to me a prime example of DALPA's sell-out of scope and the ramifications for Delta pilots.

When I transferred to SLC 12 years ago we (mainline) flew Salt Lake City to: Billings, Bozeman, Butte, Great Falls, Helena, Kalispell and Missoula. Today they are all RJ routes, as are Pocatello and Idaho Falls.

Thanks DALPA!

Ha! See I was already assuming I'd succesfully steered my generations to come away from this career field.

actually if my kids don't want to do this job then it's sadly my fault for not helping to shape qol, pay and advancement to something it should be.
