Especially when I think of going to 88 school in a few months.
Some one was throwing out the numbers needed if we went back to 2007 utilization levels and all of those jets were out of the desert. It was above 1000 pilots.
We are a long ways away from there, but as we all know the economy could turn and in turn demand.

We are definitely coming out the back side of this storm.

I think it means you have already been converted. A call would be in order.... You have 15 mins.

Specifically, does anyone check their schedule every 3-4 hours? Or does everyone just wait for a call? Plus, if they were to assign me SC for Sat would I get a call or will it just show up on my schedule? Will they have to give me a specific amount of notice for the SC assignment?

Thanks in advance.
They will call you if they are assigning you anything close to 12 hrs prior to call out. Now if they are assigning you a trip for the next day, they will not call you until after 1500. Sometimes if they have nothing better to do they will call earlier but ATL will be IROP tomorrow so do not expect that.
They will normally assign whatever is in the pot after 0800 local for tomorrows flying. It is released to reserves after 0800.
That said they populate the next days reserve list on I-Crew after the 0700 PCS run. When that run is complete it will populate the reserve buckets as well as show the pilot after the last run. This will give you a good idea how to sharp shoot your likeliness to getting a trip for the following day.

I have had them call me at 1201 am for a short call starting at 11 am. It is rare but it happens. They have to give you 10 hours notice for a SC assignment.

Not arguing the political side of it. Talking about what DAL sees. I sad back side. I said nothing about a second line of weather.

DAL is looking very closely at their modeling and the possibility of a double dip. Some see it some do not. It the end we will not know until it is over.

Either way, we have weathered this better than others.

Just to be perfectly clear, you need to check your schedule after 1500 local base time not Mecca(Atlanta) time. I got sightly bit by this once.

Really!?! I thought they could give you 10 hours notice for a short call but then you have a 2 hour (or however long it reasonably takes) response so the earliest you actually could be assigned a trip is 12 hours. If this happened recently to you, you may want to talk to the union about it.

I re-read your post and it looks like they were okay starting your short call at 11am. But you would not have had to show up for a trip until 1pm.

As Denny said, 1500 local time...so 1600 mecca time for you.

As far as checking the schedule after that point and through your reserve days, I pretty much check it whenever it's convenient for me. When I used to commute and sat LC at home, I wouldn't stray far from the phone or computer when I would hit the "crunch" zones in my commute vs. making a report window. In Detroit at that time, that was around 1800-1900 to make it to ATL.

That's correct, Denny.

Remember, there is no "sign-in" for SC. You just become "readily available" at that window. Just be in position for that sign in 2 hours into the call window.
