Yeah, I've been enjoying the scheduling "perks" all the snow has been giving DAL pilots as well.

This has REALLY got to be hurting Delta's bottom line though. Not good.

Take a look at the DALPA forum. There is a former NW pilot on there with a whole thread *****ing about how no one at Delta gave him a class on what the word LogSheet means with regard to the aircraft log book. Give me a break!!! I bet he could figure out what they mean by logsheet.
A few days ago I listened in the pilot lounge to a recent hire ranting about how abused he is on reserve to a couple of other pilots. I look at his name tag and start pulling up his schedules. I could only go back 7 months in DBMS. This horribly abused pilot has average 8.2 days working the last 7 months and 2.2 shortcalls per month. Throw me in that abuse pot!!!!
We are pilots! Nuf said.

That said, the guys On the big jets are not working, but the guys on the narrow bodies are getting their tails worked off.
This bid will even that out, and that is good for everyone.

I prefer to work and work a lot, but sitting at home has its benefits too!

Slow;
Self policing is good. I like it, but sometimes we all go a little overboard. The only issue I had was the statement of telling him to find a new career. Maybe a different perspective, but not a new career.

I know that DAL pilot are not used to whiner and all of us regional guys and gals are a tough pill to swallow. We have all had our careers rationalized.

Many of us just see it as another game and many are sick of it. Right or wrong it is what it is.

How many days of availability did you have? Not sure about the two 3-days, but I tossed in a yellow slip to get the 4-day trip that was in open time. If I hadn't done that, I doubt I would've gotten any of the trips. But that 4 day covered my next reserve stretch, was commuteable, and had 24 hrs in PVR, so I couldn't pass it up.

If you still have a copy of the MEC Scheduling Alert 09-05 that was put out in early December, it has a really good explanation and example starting on page 5 of how trips are assigned to reserves.

Give me your aircraft and category and I will take a look. What could have happened however is that with all the weather rotations were canceled and the open time was covered with recovery pilots. The trips could also have been white slipped. You can go to open time and then display daily trip coverage. It will show trips covered for today and tomorrow with a reason code. If you hit PF5 it will give you a listing of the codes since some of them are not intuitive.

Bid a reserve line. With your seniority in our category, you'd NEVER fly, and probably only have 1 or maaaaayyyyyybe 2 SCs per month.
