Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
I believe these are the opening rounds of the Great War of 2012. After flying with several senior CA who point blank say they will sell scope for pay and retirement and reading this union publication, I see the senior half or third or whatever making a concerted effort to sell 120 seats for shiny new 777/787 and bigger paychecks or retirements. The C44 publication blatantly states that my job is not worth the effort to keep vs the upper half. If that attitude prevails, we will become an anti union. Instead of garnering the most jobs possible the union will sell jobs to enrich its most senior members. The merger has made this even more probable. Remember, more people on the back side of the career curve were added than on the front side.

We estimate that the total fair values, determined as of December 31, 2009, of the aircraft that Chautauqua or Shuttle America could assign to us or require that we purchase if we terminate without cause our contract carrier agreements with those airlines (the “Put Right”) are approximately $200 million and $440 million, respectively.... If the Chautauqua or Shuttle America Put Right is exercised, we must also pay the exercising carrier 10% interest (compounded monthly) on the equity the carrier provided when it purchased the put aircraft. These equity amounts for Chautauqua and Shuttle America total $25 million and $52 million, respectively.
OK, so who executed this decision and why was this so much better than flying the damn airplanes ourselves?

The trick come in with routes that these airlines will refuse to fly. Say ATL-CSG. It may not make money for DAL so it will not make money for SKW. How will DAL for them to fly a route that will not make money for them without guaranteeing them a profit.
Thoughts to ponder.

There is nothing in our scope which would prevent the right equipment be put on that route to make money and provide service that would feed the ATL / CLT or MCO operations of various carriers.
Of course the other issue is the Heimatschutzministerium and the cost structure that makes it worth the while for Savannah folks to drive to Jacksonville. They blame us for that, but it really is not our fault.
Not meaning to impugn your personal integrity and present company excepted, but every one has a price. Can the company find that point?
Bar, is that entire publication available? I would like to read it before go off even more half cocked.
Looks like this RAH order really has this place spun up tonight. Nothing wrong with thinking about and planning the future. Come on guys, the sky isn't falling. I haven't flown with one Capt. that wants to give away SCOPE, in fact it's 100% opposite of that. The LAST thing we need is to divide this pilot group with senior vs. junior stuff. Heck, we just swallowed the whole merger sandwich.

Sat;
I get the feeling from the pilots in charge of the boat that scope is not for sale.
Yes, there are many guys that give two hoots about you. That is your problem. They want to get as much as they can from this job. I do not blame them, they have been screwed. I do not care what they get, as along as it does not come in the form of scope sale.
I could say more but I will not. It is pointless. The point is that, I fly when these guys too, and they are uninformed.
The issue is that we need to realize that these jets can be flown here at mainline. It is not using bargaining capital for jets that are below us, it is making sure there are enough seats on property for those senior guys to stay senior. That is how I frame this argument to them! That is fact.
If we keep whittling away the bottom, before too long the top and the bottom will meet. Those with less than 10 years left just want money. I get that, the problem is that selling scope may very well effect them as well. They just do not see it. Thank god our reps see that. I know for fact the guys in 20, 44 and 66 do!

BTW I think I know what jet you are on. Those guys are effected by this. The ones I fly with on the ER and those above do not see it EVER effecting them. Not all but many. They want Pay and a pension. (Many not all, some get it, and those are the great trips)

Super,
Ridding themselves of FFD does not mean stopping third part lift. What it means is making these airlines risk sharing partners in the flying. This will happen with what are now pass through costs as well as the profit.
I guess we could determine that they would be JV's because in effect that is how much of it could be set up. The difference is that they would be flying for the DL code alone. Point is that these airlines will be exposed to the profit/loss side of the equation.

Not that I advocate mutiny, because I most certainly do not. But, we sure need to figure out a way to get the Captain's attention.
