I think that will allow us to truthfully tell the DOT that they should award all requests as we are the "greenest" airline in the country. "Go Green, Go Delta".

Denny

it was an April fools joke put in the trim tab, but it was great watching the reactions of the guys in the crew room.

It looked to me like they were all commutable on either the front or back end of the trip. I've seen much worse, like CoEx EWR trips.:p

What I think is wierd is they brought the MD88 into MSP because it can reach both coasts(or that was a rumor maybe), but for May it looks like all the trips start with MSP-ATL and then just hopping through ATL until the last day.

The new strategy which was a brain child of Lee Moak is to layer in many levels of economic penalties to the company in the event of a furlough. I think its a much smarter way to do business. The company can furlough but with all the costs now built into the contract to furlough you know the company is only going to do it if its a last resort. Those financial penalties kept pilots on the payroll the last two years because in the end it would have cost the company money to furlough the surplus. Its also much harder for the company to challenge a multi layered economic penalty system to furloughs.
Overall this is a much better approach then a straight no furlough clause.

Absolutely agree - If it is just a straight No Furlough Clause then the company can just go ahead and furlough and then you have to grieve it later (like in FM-1 and FM-2). If it's a straight economic penalty then it becomes more costly for the company to furlough and will only do it as a last resort business model.

It's something like that, except that the company knows how much is in the bag, and you don't. It holds more than they say it does. If you fail to empty the bag, they will take the remainder back to HQ and divide it up as bonuses.

I like that you can book Jumpseats from the web now. Question is, at 12, what is faster the phone or the web? Hmm time will tell.

I seem to have a tendency to open up cans of worms that many cannot resist. Ha I will be glad to drop the NFC issue when I stop getting hits on the subject. For those of you who detest rambling, please move on to the next post. LOL

I agree with Sailing and DAL73n about layering. It is definitely a better mouse trap. Additionally I'm sure DALPA will tell us that this NFC is now a "Super Dooper Iron Clad" NFC. NOT! But even as a fair weather clause, it has and will continue to protect some of our junior guys as it is supposed to do. I guess it could be said or argued that this alone is worth the cost of the agreement. It is certainly a debatable issue not to be placed too high or too far upon the shelf. Soon enough, it will become a very important and highly discussed issue.

I'm not a pessimist, or an optimist or even an optometrist. LOL I am a realist only concerned with facts based on precedence and common sense. Our next contract negotiations are going to be very interesting indeed. With the combination of DAL N "militants," and the DAL S "never say no" pilots, this negotiations will be entertaining if nothing else. Considering I am more on the militant side, I welcome with open arms the DAL N opinions and view points to ponder and discuss. Like NWA's management, DAL management has too many times kicked us in the teeth, and as Steve Miller Band would have said "Take the money and run, whooooyeah, take the money and run." Don't even get me started on Leo Mullin, Michelle "the dike" Burns, and the rest of those thieves. A 56% cut in compensation and the loss of our already earned and paid for pensions, can turn a pilot into a rabid dog. Sorry, I digress. OK, it is now suddenly legal (in the news) to take those anti-depressive meds to make me not so depressed. Where do I get those? LOL Just kidding of course. We can't take blood pressure meds, but now we can take anti-depression meds. R U JACKIN ME?

You don't have to agree with my opinions here unless you are my current FO. LOLOLOL If, however, you don't agree with me, I can simply pop a pill to ensure that I'm not depressed. Can you believe this new ruling?

SO SO TRUE. I'm still laughing as I envision a bunch of squirrels dividing up a bunch of nuts. You are so right.
