I'd say EWR is all full up, also. They have access to NYC, why do they need more?

They want more LGA and would probably take EWR and DCA in a heartbeat.

Sorry, I forgot the sarcasm feature. I really don't care what SWA wants. I just know that NYC is full, and if they want in they'll have to buy slots from someone selling. I hope CAL isn't selling.

Apologies for loitering on "Latest and Greatest" I'll go back to the UAL-CAL merger threads.

And now NYC is saying it wants to "tear down LaGuardia airport".

"LaGuardia should not be the gateway for domestic flights into New York City," Ward told a Crain's New York Business breakfast forum. "It should fundamentally be torn down and rebuilt again."

As you are aware leading means making the tough and sometimes unpopular decision!
It would have been a good opportunity to change things up.

Well DAL was not in the market to sell slots in LGA either. Look what the DOT demanded. Just sayin.....

(I got a lot of CAL buddies calling me over the last few days )

Before Big Spiny Fruit guy and Really Nice Exotic Sports Car guy jump all over me, I know reserve shouldn't be commutable. Maybe not, but it shouldn't be a crap shoot.
Just to be clear, I did not say it shouldn't be commutable, I said it wasn't designed to be commutable so you shouldn't be surprised that it isn't very commutable. Don't be hating.

I don't hate, I only love! I agree that it wasn't designed to be commutable and I never expected it to be. But lately it has become capricious, arbitrary, and almost personal. Contractual rules on how short calls are assigned would go along way to alleviate that. Flexibility for IROPS can be written into the rules, but for Pete's sake there has to be something in ink.

It can be commutable. I and several of my friends successfully commute on reserve all the time. We aren't in an international category though, so that helps. That being said, there are many improvments that could be made period. Not necessarily improvements to make it more commutable, but to make somewhat predictable.
