Somebody calculated it and its worth posting, what would it cost to build the Death Star? It is 17.16 quadrillion cubic meters and will require 1.71 quadrillion cubic meters of steel, about 134 quadrillion tonnes, all of it shipped into space. Then add air, shipped into space, and so on, and you get a total of:

$15,602,022,489,829,821,422,840,226.94.

Yes, that’s a whooping 1.4 trillion times the current US Debt.

Now, how much does Delta have in debt?!? That ain't nothing.

Tonights worthless factoid is brought to you by 80ktsclamp. Thanks for crunching those numbers and keep reaching for the stars buddy!

Quick question. I held a line next month for the first time since getting on at DAL. Can I pick up a trip from the swap board in a different base? Assuming the equipment is the same, of course. I'm an NYC -88 guy and I want to pick up an ATL trip.

Congrats on holding a line, look up the order for trip assignment under "scheduling" in the PWA.

Do you want log your takeoffs and landing in ACARS or not?

PS I enter 9s, unless the capt is a bonehead, then I enter 6s

Your right, no DBMS access for the fNWA FAs sense. I'm sure that won't change till the union thingie is worked out.

Trip assignment? I don't see a part of "trip assignment" which pertains to picking up a trip that somebody is trying to drop on the swap board. The trip I'm interested in is on the swap board and not in open time. Hopefully, I explained myself well enough.

No I don't think you can pick up a trip off the swap board from another base than your own. I've never heard of it any way. If it's an open time trip that is not covered in another base, you could try to out of base whiteslip but that doesn't sound like the case here.

Well, I just answered my own question by trying to pick it up. No go. You get an error message saying "MUST BE IN SAME CATEGORY." This makes no sense since it's obviously the same category. I can understand trying to pick up something in a -90 qualified base, but it should allow us to pick up in ATL. This is a feature that should be added since there's nothing restricting it in the PWA and there's zero cost to the company. Oh well...

I would call scheduling, the worst they can do is say no. However, I would wait for the next shift, the guys that are there right now cancelled my trip after sign in at 17:30 and then assigned me SC at 4AM.... And the next day is a golden day... Nice...

Per the PWA Section 2 this is the definition of category: 31. “Category” means the combination of a pilot’s position and base

So technically you are not in same category if you have a different base. It would be nice to be able to do what you want though.
