FWIW, lots of rumors floating around about the additional 90's. I'm sure some of them will wind up on the West Coast (SLC or LAX). Jim Whitehurst, our COO has said that the ExpressJet EMB-145s are developing the feed for future growth in LA. 80-90% of the International traffic out of LAX is flown by foreign carriers, so I believe the company sees some good possibilities for revenue growth on the West Coast. I believe Delta will continue to develop the international market down to Mexico and Latin America, possibly the 76ER down to South America then possibly on to the PAC RIM. We can't develop the international side of LAX without the feed, so I'm looking for either the 737-700 or the MD90's to make it to SOCAL. The 737-700 will be good for the "long thin routes" and mountain flying. We also use the MD90 for mountain flying and our higher altitude airports in the U.S. LAX is turning into a relatively junior base. For the guys that are already at Delta, If they don't live out here now and have a family, it's almost cost pohibitive to move out. The commute from the East coast is just not practical. West coast expansion will mean some great opportunities for our new hires.

The last I heard about the 90's was we are in the process of 'inking" a deal for 20. Comapny wants to buy any other available 90's because they are realatively inexpensive. I've heard the number $8 mil floated around. This could bridge the gap to the next generation aircraft to replace the 737. I've flown the MD90 and it's a decent aircraft. If our management team follows through with the purchase of the MD90's, I personally view this as a financially conservative move and shows me that our management is thinking out of the box and not just throwing money at our growth straight out of bankrupcy.

Well, that's my 2 cents, and mostly speculation at this point..... Nothing is in concrete, but I expect we'll hear much more when the new CEO is annouced.

I'll try to figure this out. Where are you located and who do you work for? This will help add to your post requirement for PM's. And I did try sending you a PM with no joy.

I start at DAL on the 20th.

I'm a blabber mouth and can talk to anyone (read: BS), so that coupled with the Air Inc interview prep, I think I'll be ready (though a little stressed to do well and not tell about the time I was in an Arab prison...).

Gretsky,
Sounds like you've prepared yourself well. Be careful with the "canned" type of answers you may have learned through the interview prep. They have a way of seeing through the B.S. My advice is just be yourself, pause and think, and don't be afraid to ask to come back to something later if you don't have the answer. The interview is laid back and very professional. They're looking for personality, not B.S. IMHO. Good luck!

This is good advice. An older wiser retired L1011 driver nailed me trying to give the old rehearsed answer during my interview. Needless to say I could tell they wanted to hire me because he let me shift gears to a less BS answer without trouble.

SLC should come pretty fast, I'm guessing some 07 hires will get it this bid. If the rumors of MD90's come true SLC could be the place to be.

We were told in class that they couldn't fit all of the 90's they want in SLC. Some people are saying they will train everyone on the 90 and integrate them into the fleet (too expensive in my opinion and probably won't happen). Whitehurst said they would like to see some in LAX. Having MD-90 bases in SLC and LAX would be great.

Anyone need an ATL crash pad?

Hey All,
I have been wicked busy with LOE stuff. Took my sim check yesterday. I have a 3 day observation trip this weekend. My first Maddog IOE trip is the 27th thru the 30th.

Congrats to everyone who has been hired. Welcome aboard!

Congrats and Good Luck to everyone who has interviews coming up!

There are 2 beds opening up in my crash pad if anyone needs one in ATL. The pad is behind the Crown Plaza off Virginia. If you are a commuter there is no need for a car with the Crown Plaza Shuttle bus. Decent place to study if you are starting training. PM me if you are interested.
