I do not know. Reference the JPWA. I do not have one hear me. I know that there was a phase in of that for the NWA guys, but since you are a new hire you may just get all of it right away.

Very, very unlikely to happen by end of 2009. Yes, the company wants that; however, it is not the company that is driving this one. They need approval from our Gov. friends, look for that about a year from now.

Yes, that is what the company wants. There have been a few leadership changes that have caused a slight delay, but most of the decisions are done on how we are going to do things.
I know what the target dates are, and it really looks like they pull this off. I want it sooner than later. The longer they want the more pilots they can furlough.

Question, why can delta furlough more pilots before SOC than after? Particularly ALL of the 07-08 newhires....I'm one of them.

Am I correct in thinking that if I have a bunch of 2001 NWA hires below me that the provisions of TK are in effect before SOC or does that not count until after SOC.

You are only protected by that clause AFTER SOC. Until we have SOC furloughs come from each individual seniority list. So all the new hires are fodder. Once we have SOC there are very few pilots total seniority list wise that they can furlough until they have to start pulling seats.

Again I predict that if the company wants it bad enough they will furlough and ask the union for an LOA to keep the seats and history shows they will get it.

Alright, differing opinions I see here, SOC sooner rather than later or later rathen than sooner? What is best for the bottom guys that seemingly populate this forum? Heck, even break it down, whats best for Delta pilots by themselves, FNWA by themselves and the combined list?

I thought later was better up to a point. Such that SOC a year out is better for DAL pilots and FNWA pilots to hold on to their jobs and then hopefully SOC would come during an economic upswing? Thats if the yahoos in DC don't screw the country worse than they normally do. Is that wrong?

Well if you are senior enough to avoid a furlough if we have one you want SOC in 10 year. If the seat scope trigger may save your job, you want it sooner.
Fact is that with cargo down 13% in the 4th quarter of last year the urgency of moving our jets to accommodate the demand as been lessened. In fact this drop in demand may delay the base movements to a later day. Just a thought, nothing official on that.
