The bid covers training 1DEC07- 1JUN08

The answer is Yes, you can bid as long as you can get on to E-crew before it closes. It is open for 10 days from posting. I would assume that because of this you will get to bid on the first or second day.
FWIW rumor is that your class will be 7ER NYC.

ACL65 is correct, you may bid as long as you can get into DBMS.
I got the ATL767 award when i had just started simulator... had put in the bid while I was in indoc.
It will be interesting to see how this pans out with limited to no backfilling in certain categories. I would imagine LAX7ER will pretty much go one for one with the current displacement on the LAX765.
All in all, it certainly will change the normal status quo.

Hello LA!!
Like you point out the LAX765 most likely will occupy the 31 of the 44 76ER A and 32 of the 44 76ER B slots, leaving 13 ER A and 12 ER B.
So 13 ER A + 12 ER B + 40 73N A + 40 73N B is an increase of 105 just to LAX?
Wow, I've never seen an AE before, but that seems like quite an open door to the West coast.

Correct me if I am wrong, LAX has quite a net increase in crews.

OK, so to simplify this bid. If one was to start class on the 3rd of December, let say his SSN was about in the middle, what options would he have for AC and base?
Yes, it's me and I can't wait....

You are porbably looking at middle of the road picks from class, that is where I was with a 5XXX SSN. I was just three places higher than the middle actually. You could bank 100% on getting NYC (JFK, LGA, EWR) if that is something you want. There will be some 767 ERs in JFK and the standard MD-88 as well. You might see 1 or 2 wide body domestics, but those usually get taken by the two folks in the class. Either way, you will be happy flying anything and there will be other bids coming out very soon as they need to start training 777 people soon. I think that this bid that just came out was the fourth one for the year, expect the same next year too I guess.

Also, what's backfilling in this case and why is the limiting of backfilling so important?
Thanks - D
