Is it true that DAL is actually looking at a large 777 order either new or used, but FDX is currently paying above market vale for any 777 they can get a hold of?

When I asked the DAL ATL International Chief Pilot if/when we might be getting any more 777's, he said he was in a meeting (6mo. ago) with Management, the subject of new, big airplanes came up. Richard said, "Nope, Boeing wants $262 Million each for a new 777, and we don't need them right now anyway."
Richard also said he was "...happy with our widebody fleet as it is..." and they were focused on paying down debt, not buying new airplanes. So, there you go. Oh, and you know the 100 new 737-900's are REPLACEMENT jets, to replace the older 757's. |

1.) When will Delta be hiring?
2.) When is Delta gonna place their order for 50 777's and 50 747-800's? 3.) When is Delta going to place their order for two-hundred 70-100 seaters for mainline pilots to fly exclusively? 4.) When can we expect SWA type paychecks? I hope this subject changing thing works. :D That's pretty easy; 1. In 2013, when the age 65 guys start to time out, maybe. 2. Never 3. Never 4. Never Ok, so what about that douche Bill Mahr and...is it too early to start talking about Monday Night Football?? |

Said the same thing about the 744 until the lowered the payments too. Boeing needs DAL to be a major customer, and negotiating in public that you do not like one of their best selling jets is the way to do it. We could use another 15-30 wb as the economy improves. What is yet to be seen is if they will come as organic growth or through an acquisition. |

Sorry, that guy's killed my fantasy football team this year, along with P. Rivers. and J. Charles. |
What is this 'organic growth' you speak of? The name of the game in the USA is Consolidation these days. Why grow and then have to compete (by lowering fares), when you can buy, reduce competition and raise fares?
You want to see organic growth, you have to look at Emirates. |
we can handle a digression here and there. Nothing wrong with having a little color on here in my opinion.
I mean I am not a Florida Gator fan. Neither is Tsquare. Of course Tsquare hates them and Auburn just beats them, different subject. :D I agree with Tsquare, I too don't mind cheering Tebow on especially given how pundits opine that he can't win or that he should hide his religion. I mean that guy is trying to find a place in the NFL and while doing it he is transcending sex, politics and religion simultaneously to the point nobody notices the undefeated Packers except Buzzpat and new. sorry new. But as always, to keep this about Delta, Newk to answer your questions I don't think any of those will ever happen. :( I think when we scream 748s we'll get 773s maybe or Skyteam will get them and fly them in and out of our hubs, 777s and we'll get 330s, 757s and we'll get 739s, MD88 replacements and we'll get 738s, DC9s and we get E175s. I just think we'll never have a WOW moment at this airline for a long time when it comes to aircraft and maybe even hiring. And man I hope we hire but at the same time I'm wondering if we're not hiring for retirements because as they go, we'll shrink. |
Here is a question, what about a floor to the manning at Delta? Not connected to aircraft but when Delta shrinks to below a certain number of pilots then 51+ seat jets are parked.
Just a better more airtight floor than our friends at AMR... |
