No... this is no longer the case

I know it costs almost the same to operate a 319 and 320. You might get a better deal flying REVENUE on the 320 because it hold more passengers.

On the other hand, I am sure it is more cost effective, running higher load-factors on a 319/320 instead of a 717. For a pilots pay standpoint, you have more seats thus pay per seat is better on the Airbi.

There are quite a few 717's sitting in SNN right now.:)

That does sound vaguely familiar. Either way though, I don't think 75 mins. would get you halfway to GUM. The whole IWO thing is weird too... is anyone allowed on that island outside of an emergency? I understand that there aren't any civilians there, it's just a Japanese army outpost. Interesting discussion regarding Magadan too...

Quick reserve question.

I start short call tomorrow at 1400. That's 1400 SEA time (not ATL)right?

No, there is nothing there. If you go there you will have the folks onboard till the rescue ship arrives. A lot is word of mouth passed down over the years but it had better be REAL bad to go into Iwo. If you have an ETOPs jet Iwo isn't even listed anywhere on the release and the two points are departure and destination (I think we still do NGO - GUM).

Anyway, T can pipe in with anything new but Delta has at least attempted to put some guidance out. NWA was just it's there but please dont use it.

Are you sure about making the folks stay aboard 'til a rescue ship arrives? As I recall, there's a Q on Iwo.

Your SC assignment is local base time.

Ferd;
Don't forget your 2 hr commute - you have to tell the schedulers you're going to use it.

isn't everything ATL time?:D

You know, I would really like to have an OPEN discussion about the whole etops alternate business - with the dispatchers and real bookworms. The problem is, this forum really isn't the place to do that.

Maybe, in one of our quarterly cq's there could be something other than the pure plain vanilla sterile scenario.

I DO realize there are scenarios for which there are no solution.

Cut to UPT standup:

Ferd: ok, new jet new day

Scambo: Is there a clearing line?

Ferd: Yes

Scambo: Okay, I'd enter the overhead and land

Ferd: Scambo you're an ace (smiley)
