Quite true, and then they get to go home after a "day at the office" and deal with normal life, whereas a forward deployed combat pilot does not. That in itself creates issues.

Forward deploying to an "undisclosed" location in June. Along the lines of what you wrote, actually looking forward to the one environment, vs. the distinctly two different ones at home. :)

I understand that. I know a lot of pilots that did the deal flying the drones and the much prefer to be deployed when carrying on a war.

Best of luck in your deployment. Thank you for your service.

He a whole heck of a lot of fun to party with. You missed the good times last month in ATL. Had a good ole APC reunion.

talking about fleet repacements with the 717 and 319 what is the possibility of ever seeing the A321 in Delta paint?

The 321 is a European beauty. Great for short hauls and packing in lots of peeps. It is not a competitor with the 757. However, I hear the NEO, with improved performance, might make it more popular in the US.

Having flown one in a previous life, I must say it was definitely an after thought to the 319 and 320. At some point a manufacturer needs to say, "Maybe we need to design something new rather than stretch this thing into obsolescence."

My intentions certainly were in jest.

Seeing how worked-up my son gets playing his video games, I can only imagine that flying an RPA over Indian country is even more so.

This is what Boeing needed to do after the 737-800.

I know what you mean...when I was on mil leave doing full time stuff, the home town grind with all the additional duty BS would make you look forward to a trip to the sandbox, where you only had to worry about flying. Plenty of gym time, limited family complications, etc... Usually got over it way before the deployment ended though.
