Heyas Jonso,

Just call ALPA Aeromedical. I call them a bunch, even with small questions.

They've been invariably very helpful.

Nu

Thanks Nu. That's probably the best idea. :)

I'm surprised there's no thread on this...saw on the news there was a DL 757-200 JFK-LAX that lost the #2 engine after ingesting birds. My kudos to the crew for handling the situation professionally. The news has been playing the ATC recording and crediting the crew for remaining calm (as is apparent by the radio calls.) We all know it's of the job but it's a good reminder to the public that sometimes when 'it hits the fan, the talent in the front office step up and make flying 170+ people on 1 engine look easy.

Just imagine how calm the pilot would be if he was flying the plane remotely from an air-conditioned trailer in New Mexico!

I think the intentions of your post were to be in jest, but guarantee you, having 2000+ hours of RPA (remotely piloted aircraft) experience myself, an "operator" is subjected to the same anxiety of an emergency, as if he/she was sitting in the aircraft. Adrenaline still flows with an engine failure, fire, loss of directional control, etc. when you're aware of people being killed by falling debris, and/or you and your crew facing the same accident investigation board that any other military pilot would face.:)

FLY SAFE,

GJ

Been trying to find a way to put up a "LCC/AMR" picture, and struggling with technical issues. I finally think I have it:

How's this, for a metaphor?

Keeping with the snake picture airline analogy theme, see if you can make an airline analogy for this pic:

FLY SAFE,

Quite true, and then they get to go home after a "day at the office" and deal with normal life, whereas a forward deployed combat pilot does not. That in itself creates issues.
