acl does it look like the vacancies on the smaller aircraft will be filled by domestic 76/75 vacancies or will they also displace off of ER caragories?

16. What happened in Jan was that a number of people displaced out of ATL 767 into NYC 7ER or other bases rather than switch airplanes. They might of thought it was easier to commute than go through training, or maybe it was a $$$ thing. Or maybe they thought the displacement was going to be short-lived.

That bumped people off the bottom of the 7ER into the M88 or the 737.

I love this industry and web boards. In less then the span of a week we have gone from a big announcement on the 15th that will make life good for Jr guys to, well we are not furloughing for now.

It does make for great reading though...

So is there still good news on the 15th?

I think what he is saying is he is reading the tea leaves & they are saying that by the end of 2010 when we have an SOC, airplanes & staffing is completely realigned, & everything is meshed that we as a company will be in a position where it would be EASIER to furlough IF NEED BE.

I don't think he is implying that the company will inevitably furlough at the end of 2010, but that it would be LESS messy to do so after all those things are done. JMHO.

You are correct.

As with everything. The end of 2010 is way off. It is two life times in an airline. They did the correct thing. This economy is in the dumps, but quick decisions get a lot of companies in trouble. The carrying costs are manageable.
There are things coming over the horizon that I am sure many people that state these number have no idea about. That is my take on this.

Also remember way aback at about 3000 posts on this thread Bucking and I commented that we had real fear in 2010. A lot happens at the end of next year. One, we are going to be totally merged and base realignments will be underway, two the no furlough clause is +2 years and then they would have to only deal with the 76 seat scope trigger.
At the end of next year our route structure would be mature to the point of reductions being able to take place with out a huge loss of efficiency.
Now if there are any signs of this economy turning, we will just be set up for furloughs, and not have to do it.
As it stands now, we have bodies in the wrong jets.

At a min there will be good news after the 15th. We will all go up a few seniority numbers.

After they see where those numbers are, we will see a displacement bid. What the final surplus numbers will be, will be very telling. A lot more FO's than CA's and I will start scratching me head. 9updating resume too)

The displacements are going to come off the 767. Not the ER. We are slowly moving to an all ER category.
IMHO what that means is SLC and ATL are on the chopping block.
