If you're the plug in ATL you'll be flying with me a lot.
Last minute reserve assignments to the only city in open time every single day --> Quito. Its a glamorous job. That was before we changed the way we do RSV assignments though. It was relatively civilized at the time, and I was only doing a few trips a month. Now that we have RSV RAW buckets, the junior RSV's get beat up pretty good <---This is a major reason I haven't bid back to it yet. The airplane has some great destinations and pretty easy flying. Even the worst trips on the 73N aren't that bad when lined up next to the 88 (or even the 320 out of ATL.) If that's where you're headed, you will have a good time. The Captains are pretty easy-going, with a few famous exceptions, and the technology from the glareshield down is pretty nice. The pay is only a couple bucks an hour less than the ER and the fleet will be growing over the next few years as the 900's come on board. Not a bad place to hang out for awhile. |

NYC - 11678 (17Mar14) 6th person from plug (25Oct10) The NYC 737 plug (bottom in category) is a March '14 hire. Currently, there are five new-hire's in that category. The ATL 737 plug is a March ('14) new-hire as well, but is the only recent new-hire in said category. As of the April 2014 Seniority List, there are 11704 pilots on property. The NYC "plug" is 11678. Clear as mud?:) |

Holding a line is a secondary, but also important consideration. |
So NYC 737 is quite junior. I guess an alternate plan is to commute NYC. Anybody have any guesses how long it would take to hold a line in NYC (737)?

That's just it. I'm considering staying in the 737 for quite some time (possibly until Capt). The main thing I'm trying to nail down at this point (as best as I can with the Jello) is if 737 is only available in NY, then how long before I can sit reserve in ATL.
Holding a line is a secondary, but also important consideration. All the new guys coming on right now are going to be sitting pretty. Whereas most guys hired in the last 15 years have spent quite a bit of time at the bottom, you will (hopefully) have a completely different experience. Good luck and welcome! |
