Eldee, thanks for the compliment. The only significant variables remaining are the SSP numbers early on, class size, and whether Compass holds for a full 90 days or 60 like is shown.

As for SSP numbers, I don't think the data early on is very accurate. I believe they were interviewing SSP exclusively every other week, but I haven't been able to nail down their numbers. If anyone has SSP numbers that would be a great help as you basically need your own column separate from street hires.

Does the seat lock start when you actually start training on the aircraft or when you are awarded the aircraft? Does anyone know if Compass pilots were allowed to bid for aircraft in their original class last time?

It would be really nice to get two shots at an aircraft that is based where I live.

The seat lock is new so I'm not 100% sure but I think your year starts somewhere in your actual training footprint. IOW, I very seriously doubt any flow holdbacks will be eating away at their lock while still at CPZ. As for "getting another crack at it" I doubt that as well. Probably once you get your AC, whenever that is, that's it and your year will start sometime in training or perhaps the completion of training.

That said, the vast majority of new hires will get an AC (and probably a choice) that is based anywhere they can possibly hold in the first year anyway with a lateral.

I asked this question to the Compass MEC about 2 weeks ago and have not heard back.
Rumor at Delta is a Feb AE and both the pwa and the Compass contract state that Cpz hold backs are eligible to be part of an AE while on holdback.
I think you should be ok getting the base you want when you come online since most of the backlog in traning will gone

MikefromMT - I did some quick research for you regarding the size of the last furlough recall class. It starts on the 6th and has 15 in class. This is based off the January bid awards so I think it is correct. Hope this helps.

Well, here is a quote from the contract:

A pilot who is awarded an AE or VD for which qualification training is required will incur a 24-month category freeze, and an entry level pilot will incur a 12-month category freeze.

In all the AE/VD awards I'm aware of, your seat lock starts when you are awarded the position. I don't know how you would get two quick shots at any aircraft......you would be seat locked once awarded the first one. Am I missing something?

Here is the definition of "Category Freeze":

Category freeze” means a period of time
a. that is determined under Section 22 G.,
b. that commences on the date of a pilot’s award of an AE or VD for which qualification training is required or on an entry level pilot’s date of employment with the Company as a pilot, and
c. during which the pilot will (unless declared eligible by the Company) be ineligible to be awarded another AE with an earliest conversion date falling within the freeze period (other than to a new or reestablished category) for which qualification training is required.

Keep us posted on what you find out, or experience in February. I know in 2010 they did get to participate in AEs prior to showing up for training. There was some confusion on Delta's end as to whether they were going to have to go to training on their initial aircraft, prior to being trained on their AE awarded aircraft. Delta eventually came to their senses, but multiple guys got 3 to 4 months off between indoc and starting initial training on the aircraft they were awarded by the AE they were able to participate in.

Obviously the new hire seat lock is new since then.

Thanks for that! That gives a glimpse of hope that 11 more could potentially be notified for a Jan class if their goal is 50.
