I'm pretty sure this is the spreadsheet the other guys were mentioning.
Pilot Relative Position Where are you guys finding how many vacancies went unfilled? My iCrew-fu is not yet strong. Are you just taking the vacancies published on the AE and then counting from the awards, or is it published somewhere. |

5 ATL guys actually swapped into NYC on the 88, so it's "only" 85 vacancies unfilled. I'm assuming they are planning a fairly large exodus from the category in the January AE since the category couldn't absorb an extra 90 bodies. That would mean growing the category by about 75%.

There's nothing binding about them. Crew Resources knows they need at least 1 unbid slot in those categories so they just throw a big number on the AE posting. That's why you'll see big round numbers like 50 or 80 or whatever. They post those new hire category openings strictly for contractual reasons. They have to offer all openings to existing pilots before they can assign new hires to them. They can post 5 or 500 "openings". It doesn't make any difference to them as long as at least 1 goes unbid. If you want to get a better idea of required and projected manning, look at the 22D2 and 22D3 reports on the Crew Resources Advance Entitlements webpage. |

I wouldn't read too much into the number of unfilled vacancies.
